4-5-1 today. Marquis up top and Poke in goal. That's my reckoning. We've had two weeks to think of how we might stop our midfield getting overrun. You are Supergulls and I claim my £5. Actually it was more 4-3-3 than 4-5-1 because we were largely on the front foot because we won the midfield battle because we had three in centre midfield. Excellent performance - organised, disciplined, committed. Every player played well. Now will that go down as a turning point or a rare bright spot in a desperate season?

Crowd 2,144. Looked less than that to me. Do they count season ticket holders even if they don't attend?

Woo hoo, my first win of the season! Back to Ling tactics and wasn't it two years ago that we changed to this formation away at Southend which saw a rapid turnaround in our fortunes although that day saw a heavy defeat!
Tough match but deserved that win with everyone working hard and keeping the intensity for the full ninety minutes! Mozika had the best chance in the first half with a header that looked in. The first fifteen of the second saw us have the best spell of the match which led to the goal and another chance that pinged around the six yard box and somehow was kept out. However, Poke made a match changing save just after the break deflecting a worldie over the bar!
All in all, very impressive considering Southend's form and a real platform to work from.

I though just over 2k was about right looking at the popside from the bench. Oh and the sponsor is still wrong on the big screen Rob... edit: Oh, did you mean include the STs or just count the stubs on the gate?

Boy did we need that today but where does this leave Knill. Shortly after the game I saw him looking an emotional wreck so just how important was today’s win and did the result carry any added significance? The eleven he picked today worked their socks off for him and maybe, just maybe, have saved his bacon.

Now will that go down as a turning point or a rare bright spot in a desperate season? A very good question, one which I will answer next Saturday at 5pm. The result made my Cajun Rib Eye all the tastier last night.

Pleasently shocked by that performance. Head and shoulders above anything i have seen under Knill. I didnt witness the second half at Northampton and i know people were very impressed with that 45 mins. We looked like we were playing with an extra man and tremendous doubling up on the tackling. I thought the trialist Mozika was the pick of the midfield and looked a decent player and i hope he keeps his place. Is he on a monthly?? Hearing yesterday the usual names have already been sounded out by the board because of course there is a bigger picture. Although still very much in the Knill out camp i was very impressed with yesterdays peformance.

Brilliant performance, and very pleasantly surprised by Knill's tactics yesterday. I have to give credit where it's due, hopefully this will turn us around and we can move away from the abyss!!!!

Just seen the goal, very well taken on his left foot, led me to think that it was Bodin initially, being at the other end of the pitch but of course he was the provider on this occasion!
Ditty, sorry, a bit ambiguous there, I thought Sth were counted regardless but don't know that for a fact..
Also have copied you in on email to club in regards to the big screen.

Not that I know of. The ST stubs get counted by the gate blokes. They would have to count the stubs anyway to "balance the till". The crowd looked small to me but I could be wrong. Given the proximity to xmas and the crap we have been serving up, 2,144 would be a decent turnout. I think we are up to c. 1,000 STH which is quite remarkable. Despite the moaning and groaning that dominates message boards, our core support is very impressive - and I hope that will give the board encouragement to stick at the "project". You can argue it's chicken and egg between performance and crowd mood, but those there yesterday were superb in their SUPPORT of the team. When we play badly, maybe we "burn off" some of the moaners and there is a greater feeling of unity amongst those left.
