Thank you , you are right. He did play for Doncaster Rovers in 96/7 but he wasnt even in the team that played at Plainmoor that season so i have no idea why i had that original thought in my head.

Rarely do players from the top find their way to the likes of us or Pools. Used to be a common site in the lower leagues being able to watch quality players see out their careers at clubs like ours . Never to be seen again and just another negative of the modern game where 99% of money is centered on the Premiership, a little bonus for the small clubs disappeared. We've had a few quality Internationals in our time Bruce Rioch Tony Curry, Tony Brown, Big Nev the last one etc pretty sure they added something to the gates at the time but I loved it because they oozed class and rarely gave the ball humped it up field or passed to an opponent. A rare sight last week seeing ex Premiership player Nicky Hunt playing for Accy.
On to today its last chance saloon time really we really are at a tipping point where we can one of two ways, surrender or fight to the last. I still believe this lot could "click". Can Chris Hargreaves finally find a formula that realises promotion form for the final run in? Ask anyone who knows this level and the vast majority have already written us off, were down already in many peoples eyes and that's something we should be using to inspire, to play with freedom, commitment and without fear. Greavsy will be emphasising this I'm certain and I must say I like his attitude and response in interview. Promotion form is needed there is the ability within the squad and each and every player who is on the pitch must look at their own contribution and performance for the entire ninety minutes. Will things finally click and fall into place? God we've had so man player combinations surely its got to at some point. Pressures off, we are officially the worst in the division now over the first 3/4 of the season now lets just see if we can go unbeaten for a period and get some confidence and belief back in the side.

As expected one change from Tuesday. Agree with Greavsy on this no matter what happens this looks our best line up at the moment - have a change of heart at 5 o'clock mind. My only worry is Harding and Danny Stevens playing two games after little football for months. No sign of Lee today either. 01 Poke 29 O'Connor 03 Nicholson 23 Stevens 05 Pearce 04 Downes 17 Goodwin 08 Harding 26 Benyon 25 Showunmi 06 Lathrope Substitutes 02 Tonge 09 Hawley 11 Cameron 12 Chapell 13 Rice 19 Stockley 27 Wilkinson

2 down. Doesn't seem to make any difference who we bring in. Thoroughly depressing.

Hard to believe that it was only a few short weeks ago that I left fratton park with a spring in my step and real hope. What has happened to those players who performed with such passion and commitment that day? We now seem to be going down with a whimper.

Gave up hope after watching us last week to be honest. Something BASIC is missing, on paper we look good enough to hold our own at least. We gain a little encouragement with a deserved draw on Tuesday and then back to square minus one today even though we seem to have once again put the effort in. Even the BBC stats seem to suggest its an even game with us having 11 shots 6 on target to their 10 and 5 on target and we are losing 3-0. Tells a story I reckon. Cant score and cant defend and that's BASICALLY the problem and has been for nearly two seasons. What makes it so much worse for everyone is that we've shown glimpses of form, Porstsmouth and Wimbledon come to mind but completely incapable of building on it. It was always going to catch up with us in the end.

christ knows what jesus is thinking, but it hasnt just been the results, the entertainment value has been zilch mostly.Losing 3 0 when we are supposedly fighting for our lives somes the current squad up nicely.A struggle ahead in the coming season too i reckon, this squad will strugglle in the conferance and could possibly suffer consecutive relegations, when 700,000 doesnt appear from tv and football league,no youth set up payments either, coupled with 1500 gates,we are up poo creek with no paddle. But the warning signs were there last year, lack of investment has done for us,if they undercut the playing budget again, which i am sure they will, the blue square south beckons, great aint it,at least exeter are trying there hardest to join the party

Opening up a can of woop ass is an Americanism, sad isn't it! Soz si but Americanisms get on my tits, it's like resorting to being plastic and living in a Barbie world! I do envy si for his optimism, I hope we beat them for two reasons, the first reason doesn't need explaining but the second one does, Jeff Stelling! Enough said! Hi Aussie.....only way to be mate got to be optimistic.......still believe we can get out of this......si

We've been well served this weekend on the various sites, with photo's from the ground and of the match. Therefore the added variety provided by Barton's pics showing us a little of the Hartlepool area are particularly welcome. Having never been north of Scarborough on that side of the country, what used to be the industrial North-East remains an unexplored mystery to myself and possibly some others.
With a little bit of sunshine it almost looks quite pleasant!, although I can imagine those same spots with a grey sky, a raw wind and pelting rain on a November afternoon and the impression would be quite different.
Hopefully Barton's reluctance to add comments concerning the match isn't due to a sulk caused by insufficient players coming over to clap him at full time *smiley*
*EDIT*
For those wondering why Barton has provided us with a picture of the unoccupied blue plastic seats (8th picture down), (while personally I'd commend the way the photographer has artistically captured the sun glinting off them), I'm certain the plan is to draw our attention to the message : 'POOLIES ARE BORN NOT MADE'
This sentiment would doubtless also be recognised in Sheffield where Blades and Owls have their footballing identity established for life before they've left the maternity ward. Amongst our many other problems is the sad fact that far too few Gulls are born, and we've had a devil of a job trying to make any new ones. The fact that Torbay attracts so many from other parts of the country coming to settle down here, does, as we well know, mean that there's no loyalty or tradition compelling them to attend Plainmoor, and it would have been nice if Nigel Farage could have highlighted this disturbing trend during UKIP's Spring Conference.
Mind you, I'd also feel a bit sorry for those living in the North-East who would like to watch Middlesbrough or Newcastle, or who would have enjoyed a day out at Wembley following Sunderland, but are cursing their luck in being born a 'Poolie' meaning that they have to turn up at Victoria Park instead, should they want to watch live footie.
