Unsurprisingly this is a fixture that tends to lean towards the home team - just 2 of the last 18 meetings between the sides have gone in favour of the away team, and on both occasions, the away team was Hartlepool. However, Hartlepool's recent record is hit and miss - they are unbeaten in 3 at Victoria Park but did lose in Northampton last Saturday. They have had a tough run of fixtures, though, and have done well out of them as they start to pull a little further away from the relegation zone
Line-up vs Northampton:
Gk Scott Flinders Def Sam Collins Def Michael Duckworth Def Darren Holden Def Christian Burgess Mid Simon Walton Mid Jack Barmby Mid Luke James Mid Brad Walker For Marlon Harewood For Luke Williams
Subs: Andy Rafferty (Gk), Jonathan Franks (Mid), Andy Monkhouse (Mid), Jack Compton (Mid), Antony Sweeney (Mid), Jordan Richards (Mid), James Poole (For)
Head-to-head:
Torquay wins - 29 Hartlepool wins - 25 Draws - 23
Last match: Torquay 0-0 Hartlepool, League Two, August 2013
Last match at Victoria Park: Hartlepool 1-1 Torquay (Phillips 5; Bullock 81), League Two, August 2006
Last Hartlepool win at Victoria Park: Hartlepool 4-1 Torquay (Porter 6; Gritton 10; Sweeney 64; Tinkler 73; Humphreys 83), League One, September 2004
Last Torquay win at Victoria Park: Hartlepool 1-0 Torquay, Division Four, March 1989
Hartlepool have won 7 of the last 8 meetings between the sides at Victoria Park

Another must win game! Then again, so was the last one, and the one before that, and the one before that. Of which of those last three we made a staggering one point! Our record doesn't look very good at Hartlepool-then again, what club does it look good at!
I think this is probably the game that will break the proverbial camels back. If we lose this one and the results of the teams near us go against us (as they have over the last two sets of games) then that will be it. Having to win three games on the bounce while our rivals win nothing, I think will prove a game too far in our current form!

I can´t see more than 3 points coming out of the next three games which won´t be enough to close the 8 point gap to safety. With only 2 Points separating Exeter (16th) from Accrington (22nd) and with Northampton improving the "Double Devon" is a possibility!

Cant be too many ex PL strikers (regular ones, not those with just a few appearances) dropped down to our level....

If my memory serves me correctly i seem to remember the Chelsea legend Kerry Dixon carrying a few extra pounds scoring a late winner for Hartlepool at Plainmoor sometime in the mid 90s. Does anyone else remember this perhaps ?

Opening up a can of woop ass is an Americanism, sad isn't it! Soz si but Americanisms get on my tits, it's like resorting to being plastic and living in a Barbie world! I do envy si for his optimism, I hope we beat them for two reasons, the first reason doesn't need explaining but the second one does, Jeff Stelling! Enough said!
