2 defenders - Welsh international Darcy Blake on a free and Irish U21 international Kevin Feely from Charlton: www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/26679726Blake in particular is a very impressive signing for this level - a player who looked like being a regular in the first two tiers for the rest of his career just a year or two ago. Surprised he has dropped down to League Two so quickly They must be running scared of the yeomanator ha ha ha c'mon you yellows......si

Maybe time for one training session before coming down here? Could a few uncertainties for us to exploit if they play....

Hate it when sides come here on a bad run you just know that there run will end at some point. I remember Grimsby in their relegation season hadn't won a game for 30 odd games and told my brother who knows nothing about football but likes a bet, to have a wager on them winning at really good odds. He duly forgot what I told him and they won, much to my annoyance. Yep the laws of probability tell us that both bad and good runs come to an end at some point and with each game the likelihood of a break in the sequence increases.
On the plus side when did we last win two league games on the trot- Almost a year ago I believe Barnet home and Morcombe away. That run will hopefully be the one to go today.

Started brighter but switched off from a set piece. Thought it was a very harsh free kick by the way with Benyon being penalised for going for a header which he didn't get near to. Missed the red card after being nagged for sweeties but talking to other members, maybe we didn't get the benefit of the doubt as both going for the ball and elbow contact was made. Don't think was malicious but their guy made a meal of things but then got up absolutely fine!
Going to 10 with maybe our best threat off did for us I'm afraid. Best chance was at the end with a goal mouth scramble that just got stuck under foot with the goal gaping! Thought our goal led a charmed life at times in the second!

Another big disappontment and surely now it's only a matter of time before we are relegated. Today again showed we are are simply not good enough. We can complain about the harsh sending off for Goodwin but again we never looked capable of scoring. Crowd 2,874 which was not too bad considering the all ticketing fiasco. Sponsors MOTM going to the outstanding Pearce and twitter MOTM to Ricey who made some decent saves.
Torquay started brightly and took the game to Newport. We looked up for it and confident and we were passing the ball well. And yet on 8 minutes from Newport's first sniff at goal they scored. Following a free-kick the ball was fed through to Zebrowski on their right who finished slickly planting the ball over the advancing Rice. Torquay responded pretty well and went close from a couple of free-kicks from Nicholson and Bodin. Bodin then beat a defender and was clear in the box but shot wide. But on 34 minutes Goodwin went for a challenge in the air but led with his elbow and caught one their players. It did not look deliberate but Goodwin got a straight red card. It was now a mountain to climb for Torquay and in truth Newport should have finished the game off with several decent chances during the rest of the game. Zebrowski nearly got a second just before half-time but his shot just went wide
Torquay rarely threatened in the second half. Newport had numerous corners, hit the post, Ricey made some good saves. Hargreaves eventually used his 3 subs and finally went to 3 at the back when O'Connor came on for the hapless Tonge. Craig and Yeoman had replaced Nicholson and the ineffective Enoch. But sadly it was one way traffic and we had lots of near escapes. Our game plan had gone to pot and we were just playing hit and hope. Our only decent chance in the second half was an almighty goalmouth scramble in the 90 minute when 3 or 4 Torquay players had a stab at goal but the ball was just cleared off the line each time. That was our last chance and Newport held on comfortably.
So another defeat I have witnessed and in truth even if we had 11 players would we have scored? I doubt it and we are simply not good enough at this level. We only looked like we may score from set-pieces, not from open play. There were times in the second half when we became a comedy of errors - Rice's sliced kick, Tonge's consistent mistakes, there was even a player (I don't know who?) who instead of clearing the ball in our penalty area he actually trod on it! It's just hopeless and try as we might our team just have too many flaws in it. Only Pearce was our only outstanding player today and it's not the first time i've said that this season.

Game patterns are usually set in the first ten minutes and unlike on Tuesday our forwards got little reward in the opening exchanges. they then go up the other end and pop in a deflected goal. Who was the scorer? Chris Zeboski of course and from then on you just knew it was all going to unfold against us, Every decision and break of ball and continued to get on thirty three minutes when we lost one of our only genuine threats in Goodwin. Can't say what he was dismissed for even though it was right in front of where I was standing, an arm perhaps after I think he had won a free kick after an aerial challenge. The next thing I saw was a red card being waved and the free kick decision being reversed. A mystery that only the ref will be able to explain. At that point the supporters had just as well have gone home and saved themselves further suffering watching a painful; performance that continued to deteriorate as the match entered the twilight zone. We huffed and puffed for the rest of the match with little or no quality and generally hoofing it up to the sad and lonely figure of Elliot Benyon who won his fair share considering the circumstances but was usually up against three defenders at a time with little or no support from Billy Bodin in particular. Showumni had a quiet afternoon though put himself about as per usual and Pearce again deservedly made MOM though he had little competition on that score. Hargreaves made the three subs but even before they were made it was so predictable that we would become even less threatening with Yeoman, O'Connor and the ultra ineffective Nathan Craig. Mathematically we still have some sort of chance but what has got us in this mess is a general lack of quality , particularly in the middle of the park and that ultimately will see us playing non league football, probably for many years to come. Sad to see so many of the Popside seniors many with walking sticks in hand who will be more than likely be watching their last ever league games and that probably includes me. One last word and despite the likely hood of Billy Bodin and Dale Tonge being lovely guys neither are good enough or consistent enough for this level Billy being the biggest waste of money the club has ever spent and Dale despite being committed to the cause is simply very average and cant even take a throw in legally.Sadly they are not the only names and Nathan Craig to some supporters the saviour who hasn't had a fair crack was simply dreadful when he arrived on the scene. Yeoman he had his glory on Tuesday and hardly had a kick against the big imposing defenders who you see at this level every week. Sorry Ashley maybe you will get more joy in Non League next season. God this club needs a clear out but ewe all said that last year and this what we have ended up with. My only wish now is that we have a plan in place to try and win two consecutive matches at home next season though Im not holding my breath. As a supporter Im just battle weary after two apaulling seasons of srtrugle with little to cheer or rejoice about and maybe just maybe at the lower level we will have something to cheer again that will give us some hope for the future.
