Freezing the frame on the highlights, it clearly looks to me as if the Newport lad led with his elbow. I'm convinced it was the play-acting and rolling around on the floor that caused the sending off. He then winked at the Popside after he got what he wanted. Agreed. The behaviour of the Newport players was pretty shameful and for their captain to then turn and wink at the fans is very poor indeed. It really annoys me to see this play acting and blatant gamesmanship to try and get a fellow professional in to trouble. It's rife at all levels now and at times it's infuriating, almost always embarrassing. Sadly many referees are taken in and produce the cards after being surrounded by baying players. Just can't stand this element of the modern game. Rant over! Sorry guys, can't see it. Is there enough video evidence to mount an appeal to get Goodwin back next week and the cheating (if found guilty) Welsh git a long ban?

I've done the same and the Newport player clearly leads with his elbow first I've finally managed to put my freeze frame image on my previous post on this thread showing the Newport player leading with HIS arm first

I can't make it out one way or the other. My guess is a successful appeal won't happen. Jak McCourt back, please.
Edit: Nice freeze frame, Swanny. Maybe?

I think the appeals of the Newport players helps the ref make up his mind and the appeals of those players was pretty instant, as though something had occurred. I'm sure TUFC fans would have been expecting a red card if the situation was reversed. As usual Mansell rushes in to remonstrate, like he does with every penalty, every decision, as though he thinks he can persuade the ref to change his mind.
In the end we lost because they had a player who can finish and we don't. Our best chance of a goal is Downes, a centre half, or Chapell, who doesn't play and hasn't himself scored for 6 months.

One screenshot doesn't tell the whole story. Goodwin's gone charging in, his arm is definitely raised higher than usual by the time the two collide, and there was definite contact between his elbow and Flynn's face - you could hear it at the time, let alone see it. An obvious red card and I really don't see how we have grounds to appeal
