After a morale boosting win over Lincoln we should go into this match full of confidence although to really make the previous result count, need to follow up with another win particularly as we then have two successive away games!
Nuneaton are a strange team, they hadn't scored this season until their last game at home to Altrincham with a 2-1 victory. However, they managed a scoreless draw at freescoring Grimsby and only went down by a solitary goal at Wrexham, suggesting a team hard to break down but also troubling to score. Maybe parking the proverbial bus on their travels?
Nuneaton appeared to have made wholesale changes over the summer with 7 New signings and continued this trend after the season started with another three. This includes Exodus Geohaghan, he of the long throw fame, in fact Exocet may have been a more appropriate name! They have also signed Jordan Cranston, formerly of the Wolves youth system who can play left back, left wing or even left midfield. The final signing was a one month loan from Notts County of Tyrell Waite, a forward but who didn't get on the bench for the last match!
As for Torquay, we have the excellent news that Bowman is back, and the question as to who will partner him has been emphatically answered by Ofori-Acheampong, particularly as I am sure that Hargreaves will line up 442. Not sure if Harding is fit but Richards had shown that he should be paired with Bowman in the middle! Cameron will be on the left wing and with Briscoe injured suspect that Ajala will just get the nod ahead of Chappell but both will have some part to play.
Finally, a few questions in defence. After his first run out since injury On Tuesday, will Pearce get to start, probably one of the better teams to make a come back as I don't see the Torquay end being beseiged for long periods of the game. Also Ives will be back from international duty after playing last night - there are still talks about him signing a senior contract and suspect he will be starting...

I'm looking forward to the game, and feeling cautiously optimistic that we might take all three points. O'Achie has become something of a fans favourite in the handful of games he's appeared in so far, and it would be a surprise if he's dropped from the starting line up. There probably is a good chance he'll be paired with Ryan Bowman in order to see how that works out as a joint strike force. No doubt Chris Hargreaves will have a better idea after some experimentation along those lines in training, but I can't make up my mind whether it's more likely to be a success or a disaster.
I've only seen big Duane once, in the game versus Southport, but from reading reports and if the stats are to be believed from Lincoln, then it's unlikely we'll ever be classifying him as a clinical finisher. If we create a hatful of good chances, the majority may be spurned and then he'll score with a miskick. Will Duane and Ryan fail to dovetail and Bowman's game suffer in a similar way to Rene Howe giving the impression that the additional 'assistance' of twin striker Elliot Benyon was less of a help and more of hindrance ?
What I'm hoping for is that Duane's considerable physical presence occupies defenders to such an extent that it will create more time and space for Ryan Bowman to do what he does best.
Bowman's red card has meant he's been able to put his feet up during our last three matches, as well as miss out on gruelling excursions such as the 'all in one day trip' to Dartford. It's only right that he should make up for this by working even harder than usual for the team, and rjdgull seems to have come up with the solution to ensure this happens:
Ryan can do his work upfront alongside Duane, but when Nuneaton are in possession it will help him learn his disciplinary lesson by also doing the midfield running and tackling alongside Courtney Richards. Quite how we explain this formation to Jon is entirely another matter....is it a fluid 442 or a fluid 451 ?.....either way I expect to see Bowman carried off with exhaustion in the 80th minute. He's only got himself to blame for having to learn the hard way !

Thanks for that link AJ! I see from another article (link) that Cranston has been since snapped up by Notts County after just playing one game! They do appear to be a little short with Ben Hutchinson suspended, Jimmy Armson on leave with his partner being induced, coupled with Gaz Dean and Gav Cowan still out injured. Their manager is trying to get a few more in but with the transfer and loan windows both closed is restricted to those out of contract.... Also usual garbage article about how we won't appreciate what a hard league this is.. linkReally?

Whether Cranston was at Nuneaton or Notts County held little interest to me. What I really wanted to know was whether he was related to the old Sheffield Wednesday defender of (so I thought) the same name.
Having checked for myself, I've come to the conclusion that Jordan Cranston and Ian Cranson are unlikely to be related for what are now to me, obvious reasons.
Cranson, who made his name at Ipswich, wasn't a signing that particularly thrilled me for the Owls. However, I soon appreciated what a good defender he was, quick, good in the air, and with the bravery of a Mark Ellis. In years to come I also saw him at The Hawthorns when he wore the shirt of visiting Stoke City. AnneLouise or Felix might possibly remember Ian Cranson's days at Hillsborough...but it's most unlikely that Jordan Cranston does.

And, although the reformed club may technically be "Town", they remain known to all and sundry as " The Borough".

So Bowman was kept away from the fray at Plymouth~something I wouldn't have done personally (what do I know though) because I don't think he should have been rewarded by walking straight back into the team after nutting someone! He should have been part of the team to turn out at Plymouth and told to wind his neck in~head butt/neck in...sometimes I crack myself up!
I just hope that if he does start on Saturday that Archie starts with him, because Archie has certainly earnt his place in the team.
Bowman on his own up front: 0:0
Bowman with Archie: Pick a number from 1~10.

if archie is dropped for bowman saturday a lot of fans will be very unhappy,he has become a crowd favourite and as you rightly say register, deserves his place before bowman. But Hargreaves makes some strange decisions sometimes,he could well swap the two for saturday, that would be most unfair on archie, but we will have to wait and see

Looking forward to seeing both of them start at Plainmoor tomorrow.

As much as I would love to see bowman start with Archie.......we are unbeaten without him.......with the greatest respect to Nuneaton, personally think the gaffer should stick to the same lineup as last week ......barring injuries of course......but would put him on the bench though.....also a gud problem to have as well for the gaffer....si

Archie, Achie or what?
The player is called Duane Ofori-Acheampong. That sounds a splendid name to me and one which reflects, what I understand to be, a Ghanaian heritage.
When he arrived he was referred to as Duane O'achie which I took to be an abbreviation or a street name: O for Ofori: Achie for Acheampong. Once signed he asked to be called by his full name and it's "Ofori-Acheampong" which appears on his shirt. There's an obvious dilemma and I cringed at one alternative used on another website. I'd go for Achie - if anything - because it respects his actual name and he appears to have accepted it in the past. Archie strikes me as too much of a corruption of a corruption.

I'd see your use of "Archie", Si, as one of endearment as opposed to anything derogatory. But it's always a challenge once the syllable count becomes too high. Remember Forbes Phillipson-Masters? I'm just making a claim for our man to be called "Achie" because it more accurately reflects his given name than does "Archie". These little distinctions make all the difference to some of us. Good grief, I know someone who speaks still of Wes Sanders. No, no, no! You'd not want me referring to Hull Kingstown Rovers, would you?
