I'll start arranging the promotion part for next May then Knowing Torquay, it will go to the last game! Solid start but a lot of water under the bridge to flow yet! We are now averaging the sort of points that we need and a lot of positives can be taken from all aspects of the pitch. Enjoy the good times because we get more than our share of the bad!

I still fear that better teams than Nuneaton will get at our defence and cause us real problems. If we keep clean sheets at Chester and Grimsby - particularly Grimsby who carry a real attacking thread - I will be delighted to say I was wrong. Back four solid as a rock. I never doubted them.

Your right bout bad times.......but the attitude shown everybody at the club since we relegated has been superb......we. Could have just felt sorry for ourselves......but no the club wants to get back in the league by the performances shown ......results don't lie .......we are going to be a real force this season ....can see that by the signings that have been made by the gaffer.......that was a potential banana skin today .......and the boys stood up to the task admirably........was nice to read on Grimsby forum how good we are ....and the best team they have played so far this season......what does that tell you ......and I will stick my neck out and say we will even get better as season goes on .......well done again you yellows .....si

Scissors - Paper - Stone - Fish - Gulls = No contest!
Another outstanding result and performance listened to it on the radio they couldn't cope with us in the first half and did what we needed to do in the second. No flash in the pan this we genuinely have a talented and motivated squad that is still improving. Its taken a while but wasn't it worth the wait? Hope the club, players and manager start to get the support they deserve now with another big game on Tuesday - Its a grueling and busy schedule and we have shown up to now that we have consistency I just hope knocks tiredness and fatigue don't start to hamper performances but its amazing to see so many players performing when they come in for an injured or suspended player.

Back four solid as a rock. I never doubted them. You're right, Jon. You never doubted them. Like the rest of us, really. And there were those who feared the midfield would be overrun. And the attack goal shy. And....and.....and..... Oh dear, I find myself wanting to enjoy this without thinking about the last two seasons and the possibility of it all happening again. Good grief, it may help if they suddenly banned promotion for the next five years. Success without fear. You can't beat it! Tongue-in-cheek like....

Tongue-in-cheek, like, I'm a little concerned that our new fledgling gulls are doing a little too well and bigger beasts might come down and swoop for them. I know we are a league lower but I cannot imagine that with players like Richards, Young, Bowman, Cameron on song, we would be struggling like Exeter, in League 2. But even if we did somehow get up at the first attempt (...and I know we could be getting ahead of ourselves here), the momentum might grant us a good season or two before players/managers etc move on and like you say, the boom/bust cycle starts again. In the meantime, I am really enjoying this team; really enjoying liking the team and identifying with them. Now Hawley has gone (just Benyon to move on) even the old scapegoats like Tonge, Downes, Cruise are enjoying a renaissance and if Tonge and Downes were removed from the transfer list, I don't think anyone would complain. IN fact the way Downes has been playing it would seem silly now to let him move on if someone did come in for him.

The window doesn't open until January. If we were near the top then, would make sense to keep our players for a promotion push as the rewards for that would be greater than from selling anyone.

Thoughts from Hargreaves Here! Not surprisingly had to hang on in the last twenty as all those games coupled with travelling took its toll.

Without wishing to pee on anyone's fire, I was on Statto.com (link) this morning and the sobering fact is that we have only played 1 of the top half of the table and sit at the bottom of that 'table' with no points. I know it can be argued that the top half clubs are a moveable feast, particularly at the early stages of the season, which means that yesterday's result would have been against a top half club if played last month. Like everybody else I am thrilled at our start but I feel we need to temper our euphoria until we play some of the top half. That will be the acid test. Until such time though, I am going to enjoy the good feeling our 5th position in the current table is generating!
