If you take the 39 points that Owers won over the 36 games he was in charge and then extrapolate it over a 46 game season that gives 49.8 pts. It is possible that if Owers was in charge from the start and not hamstrung by the poor ten game start of Nicholson and Herrera he might have saved us from relegation.

We have two young and inexperienced keepers who we hope will develop over the season. The team is still not fully balanced, suspect we still need another central defender, midfielder and most of all a robust centre forward. Some of these may already have come and gone without signing so there is a degree of pressure on Owers to deliver in order to meet his promises made for the forthcoming season. I would still rate him around 61/2 out of 10 so far! Work to do!

Moving up to 7/10 with the latest arrival. Still think a big number 9 would give a good mix!

RAMRAIDERS GAINING STRENGTH
Vocal and frequent critic of the TUFC management, simonb, shows no sign of easing up on his demands for a big burly centre forward to be brought to Plainmoor. And now, with the added support of Chelstongull's 'I concur', will Gary Owers feel able to hold out for much longer ? And it's not just on TFF that Ram raid fans are finding their voice; the Kiddies site also echoing to similar calls for a big man to be brought in to lead the line: "This new French central defender. If he's any good on the ball do you think he may be better deployed as a target man? I remember Clint boulton playing up front on occasion in the 70s".For how long, can Gary Owers take on the part of Theresa May, and obstinately defy the will of the people ? While there are those who dismiss the Ramraiders as doing no more than exhibiting a sentimental desire for a return to 1970's football, they themselves counter by arguing that brute force and sheer muscle power is needed to overcome the Ben Gerring's and Giant Haystacks of NLS defences. 'They don't like it up 'em' as Corporal Jones would remind us. Simonb, fresh from his triumph in browbeating the club into providing a feature on Seale Hayne drainage, will feel that this is another battle that he can win, particularly now that season ticket holder Chelston has been recruited to the cause. Although some claim to have noted a softening of approach from Simonb, most notably with a grudging admission today, that some of Owers new signings are ' possibly encouraging'.... but for the moment the deadlock remains. Owers defiantly ruling out playing 4-5-1 at any stage during the forthcoming season. A big man to hold up the ball until the cavalry arrive, clearly being a tactic that Owers is willing to dismiss from the word go. My own view is that the Torquay manager will finally crack under fan pressure. Particularly with Chelston rumoured to have offered Owers a pie and a pint if a giant centre forward is in our starting line up in time for Chelmsford away Well I don't recognise him, but he's already been issued with a club vehicle, with the wings and engine decked out in our new colours for 2018/19. As the Commercial Manager explained: 'Once Wolves rejected the gold with black panels design, Nike were really in a pickle. We stepped in and snapped it up at a real bargain. Just one more smart move on our road to sustainable success'

If you believe that Williams, Keating, Pittman, Banton and Koszela will score enough goals between them to get us promoted that’s fine! I am not so sure and nor is Owers I suspect.

simonb Exactly right, simonb. Your doubts further substantiated by claims that Owers is in London today, signing the big guy who could lead us to victory. I wonder if Merse set up the deal ?

Midfielder and a target man I would have though the only additions to be made. Agreed Pete and we can then judge the team as built by Owers.

Owers is pretty clear he is bringing Dickson in as a central midfielder, despite being better know as a left back/left mid. I don’t expect another central midfielder signing as Essuman and Sokolik can both fill in there. For me, a big man up top is the priority remaining area we are likely to get someone in.

Former Arsenal trainee recently released from Port Vale midfielder Chris Regis signs - well we have plenty of cover and options in that department now.
