It was a hard fought win against a good side when we played Fylde back in October and it took a last minute header from Buse to come away with all three points so this could be a side in a relatively false position at the bottom end of the league although this is a very tight division with not a huge difference between the teams.
With their midweek game against Notts County being postponed, not helped by ”brickgate” with their drainage channel being sabotaged; there is a degree of doubt as to whether the game will go ahead or not. The ray of light (literally in this case) is the weather is improving both for today and tomorrow so hopefully it will be on but expect a heavy pitch.
Fylde have just sold their main striker Danny Rowe to Oldham and with our improved defence hopefully we will be able to run a tight ship at the back. The good news for us is that Little is in the squad and can start his comeback as he looks to gain both match fitness and sharpness most likely off the subs bench.
I am hoping we play a 4-4-2 which gives Johnson the choice of dropping either Cundy or Cameron and bringing in either Kalala or Keating, both likely on the wing with Whitfield supporting Reid up front. Johnson is looking for another striker but when Little supported Reid against league leaders Barrow they both scored a brace and could be something to look at in the coming weeks!

Great to see Little is in contention again though I expect him to be gently eased back into action and would't expect him to be up to speed for a a number of weeks. He and the club has to be 100% confident that he is over the injury or it could effect his game. We should look stronger with the additions that creates a selection and tactical problem now we have five central defenders to choose from. Still think we need more physical support for Reid. Someone who can hold the ball up, win a few battles and create space for JR. Maybe Lewington is the answer not really seen that combination tested as yet though I understand he is still injured.
Fylde will be tough. A side that have under performed but have the potential to climb out of trouble and they will feel this will be an oportunity for them to make ground.

Would like to go for a back four, leaving out Cundy.
Would then have Evans and Hall midfield, Nemane and Andrews wide and Whitfield just behind Reid.
If we stick to a back three, I would still leave out Cundy, play Lewis right-centre-back, Whitfield right-wing-back, Andrews in middle with Hall and Evans free behind Reid and Keating.
Either way, would keep Covolan in goal.
Would be great if Little could get ten minutes off the bench. Must ease him back in gently.

link - squad now out with 4 at the back Looks like a 4-2-3-1. Cameron not even on bench. Injured? Little on bench as expected. Surprised Andrews not starting. Is there a fitness issue? Nemane and Kalala both start. Tremendously exciting IF we get on the front foot, but a big risk if Fylde get on top.

Heard he took a knock and did not train yesterday.
1-2 up at half time after they scored from a screamer and then Hall and Reid giving us the lead thereafter!

Good time to go on a run and head towards the play offs. Would still like to see an additional striker.

Sounds like a lot of positives today, not least bang in the middle of the table and can look up towards the play offs five points and a good run away!

It was really good to hear Paul Bastard's views on the match via the TUFC radio commentary. I wish that we could have him more often for the away matches, as he is calm and collected and really knows what he is talking about.
However, for the benefit of Jon and other statistically minded supporters, I think that he must have missed a few in saying that Jamie Reid's goal today was his 50th in National League matches as, according to my own records, it was his 56th.
2016/17 4 goals 2017/18 6 goals 2018/19 29 goals 2019/20 17 goals

Played more games than the bottom 3 of the play off teams though. If they each win their game in hand, the gap becomes 8, and if Solihull Moors win their 2 games in hand, they move into one of the play off places and the true gap becomes 9 points. Still, in a league where the top team is 3 points clear, after losing 7 games already, it shows how open this league is this season. We are not out of the Woods yet but are only 3 wins from 50 points so would need another November/ December loss of form to be drawn back into a relegation scrap. Most of that was down to injuries and we seem to be coming out of that troublesome patch and actually have picked up players during the season that have improved the squad and we could be a force to be reckoned with over the next few months. As Johnson says, get to 50 points ASAP and then push on from there. Less games keeps players fresher with less injuries and the only focus is now on the league.

With a minor injury has had a dip in form which may have put off some interest during the window, it was said by the commentary yesterday was his best game for a while, only one game left for him to play until the window shuts!
