Good Morning Rob, I've missed our little Tete-a-Tete's. It was a little bit funny. Things like that happen, so no point hiding from it...it's far from being a perfect world. You're right though, we should concentrate more on the state of modern society and the type of people it's producing, rather than concentrating on some guy sucks! |

Anyway back on subject and it has been one heck of a week with panic buying going on and shops unable to cope with demand with shelves progressively becoming barer as the week progresses.
On a human cost, sad to hear that the first two people have died in Torbay and this virus seems to be ravaging London with a hospital briefly running out of beds and declaring a critical incident and the death toll steadily climbing. I am reading that people in the 30-60 age bracket are needing ventilators as well and my thoughts go out to all affected.
Economically, massive changes are occurring with many companies trying to work from home where possible and the hospitality sector being particularly hard hit. I can see this may change the way we work going forward in the long term.
I was in PC World yesterday trying to get a laptop with the right spec for my daughter to carry on working on her computer and game design course from home and they are absolutely manic in there as many also getting the equipment to do the same. One company bought 60 laptops for their staff as an example. May be why we were unable to get the equipment online.
Also the Curry part of the store has had a run on freezers for people to store all the food they have been panic buying!
Personally I am now circumventing the office and working online as much as possible. Stocked up on food a month ago well before the panic set in and just been topping up since. I worked on the principle that my family may have to self isolate for 14 days and have supplies to last for such and the majority now appear to be doing the same, this spike in demand is causing the shortfall as retailers cannot physically keep up.
We all need to do our bit, whatever that is and stay well everyone. 💪

The British people haven't covered themselves in glory over this. If people only took what they needed there would be enough for everyone, it's time for the government to introduce rationing. I notice food banks have been reporting shortages but never mind they can have Chelston's left overs when it's all finished. |

I can understand that there will be those currently taking a dim view of Chelstongull's self confessed food hoarding, but I would urge them to also consider that Chelston's 'Casualty' shifts will only get longer and harder as the virus becomes more widespread. Chelston and his fellow medical staff do sterling work, and it's no good coming home to a bare cupboard after an 18 hour shift in A&E. Let's all cut him some slack. Looking back at March 2020, and no one will guess that it's a speech crime rather than the coronavirus that's taken down Reg. Hopefully he'll opt for a short quarantine, and return with his unique insights shortly. Here's something I saw on Twitter a few hours ago which may amuse him, should he look in:  |

chelstongull I hope you've not had to interrupt a meal to come and ask me that question, Chelston  Turn back one page (to page 4) and a little short of halfway down there's a short post on the subject of hoarded food, and where it might end up. You inform us that your hoarded food will, in the fullness of time, make it's way to the homeless, via Sainsburys. Please don't follow up by asking me to provide proof that you've ever appeared in Casualty  Stay safe and healthy, and your consideration for the homeless is a good example for us all to follow. |
