rjdgull Selfish and unnecessary actions. We should condemn all hoarders at this time.

rjdgull But in a reasonably considerate manner, with some thought for their fellow Devonians I assume. Community spirit noticeably absent in our capital city.

While Arsenal Manager Mikel Arteta might have contracted coronavirus, it's good of Floridagull to bring us the good news that in another part of North London there's every indication that the Tottenham players have kept clear of the virus. Florida also points out one possible way of making sure that demand is satisfied more equitably in times of shortage. However, we are currently needlessly limiting the supply side of things. Is it really worth stopping people who might be in serious need of sanitizer and who are willing to pay a premium, from being supplied with it ? And just so that some megabucks corporation can get the satisfaction of stopping several small entrepreneurs from making a profit ? Causing stockpiles to sit in the nations garages and lock-ups, by interfering to stop transactions between buyers and sellers, may well result in several additional deaths, all for the sake of virtue signalling.

Assuming not. What would be good to see is local shops, greengrocers, butchers etc that still exist despite all that which works against them in the ‘modern marketplace’ getting used at this time. The big supermarkets can take the strain of this and come out the other side with tidy profits in tact. But there are so many business reasons a local small operator might be damaged to the point of no return and their fresh produce future option for the consumer is gone from the vicinity. ‘Let the market decide‘ (as Flo may be screaming from across the pond on reading this) then leaves consumers and suppliers with little to no choice in an area if that takes hold.

And when this crisis is over a lot of the food hoarded by selfish idiots will end up in land fill sites.

I was completely taken aback to read on the BBC website that planes, packed with people in one picture, were having to turn back to the UK halfway through flights to Spain.
Christ, what on earth were these people thinking of when the spread of the virus in Spain is one of the worst in the world? Are they really more concerned with the loss of their travel costs than with the health and welfare, not only of themselves but also of the general population? It's just as well that the airline woke up in time, as idiots like these people will soon cause a national pandemic if permitted to satisfy their own selfish needs.
As far as the National League is concerned, a couple of the managers whose teams played today have spoken out in no uncertain terms about the risk of allowing these matches to continue. The time to stop is now, irrespective of the potential financial damage. After all, I'm sure that Alpine Joe will confirm that "Uncle Clarke" will be happy to fund the players' wages for the next three months or whatever.

With a five to ten day incubation period you need to get ahead of the curve and I can see a steady ramping up of measures but have they come quick enough? Those 10 people that succumbed to this virus yesterday would have caught this in late February when we were talking about the official figure being 13 to 36 people having it and being isolated in specialist centres accordingly. Do the maths and it can be seen that over 1000 people, maybe up to 8000 were actually infected at that stage.....
Narrative has now changed massively.

So let's take stock of where we are:
Every country on the planet has closed it's borders except one...us! Blind Pew would have no problem gaining access to this country...he would just follow the Coronavirus infected hordes entering here!
The Queen has left Buck House. Not even the Woodies (should anyone take offence to that rhyming slang, just say so, no need to send abusive posts) could bomb the Queen Mother out of there!
All league matches have been abandoned, so all the Coronavirus infected league teams supporters are going to watch non-league games...cough!
Toilet paper is being horded. Why, when there are nice and fresh Dock Leaves in the fields.

stewart Haha, I’m pleased to see that Stewart is in good enough spirits to play the part of wind up merchant . He's clearly well aware of my frequent warnings of the dangers of empowering Militant groups and their political allies to set the agenda .... an agenda which always ensures the increasingly large bill for their obstructive tactics lands at the door of Uncle Clarke, who then has to decide the best method to pay for it. I’ve cautioned that it’s a very dangerous game to play, and that complacency in believing that Uncle Clarke is in any way ‘happy’ with this state of affairs could provide a major shock sooner than you think. But for the sake of our Coronavirus discussion I’m willing to accept that Stewart is correct. Correct both in his assumption that Uncle Clarke would happily see considerable further huge costs build up that have to be covered one way or another, at a very time when income will barely register as a trickle, as well as in his further point that : ‘The time to stop is now, irrespective of the potential financial damage’.
As A Mail On Sunday columnist wrote today: Cinemas, florists, small football clubs, Butchers and Bakers, such as the ones Rob has mentioned, will still have bills to pay. Many businesses scarcely cover those bills now, and are without Uncle Clarke levels of financial streams to call on. If now really is the right time to stop our usual activities, and for all sections of Society to go into quarantine, not just the old, but florists, young footballers, cinema-goers etc, when will be the right time to start again ? Other than businesses closed and no jobs to go to, won’t we face the exact same situation of having a population hugely susceptible to coronavirus, and it just kicks off again straight away as soon as the first few suffers start sneezing near us ? I’d be quite willing to accept that ‘The time to start is now’. In fact in several instances we see that decision being made by many already, irrespective of what Government may advise. But when do we then start again, and how would the situation that faces us then be any rosier ?

I wonder what percentage of our support is aged over 70. I should imagine that Tuesdays home game might well be the last time before that age group are told to stay at home !

I think things are very much up in the air and there is doubt as to whether this game will go ahead, maybe 50/50 at present? Self isolation of that age group is reported to still be weeks away though and transmission of this virus is said to be low risk at these events so not inconceivable that the season could finish as normal!!!! Should find out tomorrow the outcome for this game though.

Took the dogs on their morning walk down to the river Swale a short while ago.
The birds were singing without a care in the world, and why shouldn't they, it's spring and they can't catch Coronavirus!
I mused on the latest government plans to battle this scourge of the rest of the planet...think about it!
Elderly people who don't self isolate will be banged up in prison! How is this possible I hear you ask when our prisons are full of the scum of Europe...well I'll tell you. They are going to release the Murderers and Rapists and scum of Europe, because Heaven forbid they catch the Coronavirus in prison, and not forgetting it's against their 'Human Rights!' Why they have 'Human Rights' is beyond me, because surely you have to be Human to have such rights!
Pubs, bars, clubs, schools...all going to be closed, yet lower league football clubs still plodding on with their sniffles and coughs, bodies piling up along the touch-line!
I look forward to tomorrows genius ideas from this Government!
There's always an upside to things of course...Yin and Yang-Bill and Ben... and the upside to this virus being, at least Corbett is not running the country. Had no idea about Brexit, and other than putting the entire Jewish population of this country in camps, wouldn't have a clue what to do about this virus.
