To be fair, possibly hard for TUFC to offer a new contract before knowing what league we are in. After Sunday’s game will probably update this with a new thread. I am sure the title will come to me like it did for Barry Norman. 😉

Agree on that point, I have no doubt that GJ is the best man for us, however I remember being somewhat shocked at the time during the 2009/10 that we found it very difficult to adapt to the first season back in the Football League under Paul Buckle, another manager I had total faith in. One big difference Pete - GJ has been there a number of times and knows exactly whats required whereas Buckle was a first timer.... Very much so but think where they are similar is they will let players that have done well at a lower level be given the chance to step up at the next level.

link - confirmation that both Slough and Koszela have now signed. We don’t often see youth players re-sign after their first pro contract and hope they will be vying for a place although some first-team football lower down in the pyramid may benefit them first. Hopefully some more signings on the way. Nemane getting near the end of his 28 day grace period to decide whether to accept his contract.

Although it is quite unusual to have seven players all sign at once this has come about due to the very short window we had from the end of our season to pre season, Johnson having a short holiday plus the complications of a slight delay in registering players with the National League so seems most have come from elsewhere in the pyramid. (Hopefully in the leagues above).
With the experienced Wright, Hall and Moxey in all sections of the pitch plus several of our other players such as Wynter, Little, CLE and Andrews having much experience at our level it appears Johnson will be getting mainly younger player in. With an experienced manager, challenging at the top of our division with much coverage it seems we now have a reputation as a development club whereby younger players can put themselves in the shop window and kickstart their careers. Mix of 1 and 2 year contracts have been agreed although unlikely to know who has agreed what,
I am expecting a lot of raw talent to come into the side and for them to improve as the season progresses.

Mix of 1 and 2 year contracts have been agreed although unlikely to know who has agreed what, I am expecting a lot of raw talent to come into the side and for them to improve as the season progresses. We need to adjust our thoughts a little on how try and we build a promotion side. Its not like it used to be. Gone are the days when we could offer longer contracts to players and build In the traditional way for the long term. In our position, geographically it is easier to attract younger players with fewer commitments than it is to attract family men who have partners and children to consider. We have to be prepared to accept we are a stepping stone for the players with real potential. Short contracts will be the norm and probably best for both parties as it doesn't tie anyone down for the long term - good or not so good, club and player. Imagine if we had given Josh Umerah a three year contract (no offence to Josh) the club would have tied up player funds long term and he would have been sitting on his arse most of that time. On the other hand it could have been an inspirational move if he had improved and developed as Whitfield, and Nemane did in their short time here. You can be sure that the majority of the seven will be young players with potential. We can only hope they're all "Magnificent" though the Garry Johnson Talent Filter will come into play from day one. What is good for the club is that young players will see that we are a developing club and one with a proven manager that can improve their game in a very nice part of the country. Throw in a few experienced players with a happy and motivated dressing room and you could have a the right recipe for continued success. Whether good enough to climb back into the football league is another matter but we're sure to see the same easy on the eye and exciting playing style that Garry desires and demands. With Garry's incredible reputation and contacts and being so well respected by his peers we will always have a chance.

I’ve heard that McDonald’s gone, not sure where. Been trialing with Dundee I always felt MacDonald's level was NLS. It doesn't say much for top flight Scottish football if he got the gig at Dundee.

link - we should find out about the new signings tomorrow and also with it being 4 weeks since the play off final then those contract offered to Nemane (here) and Luke Molyneux (Hartlepool) will expire. Molyneux has been linked to our club and possibly not happy with the game time he is getting at Hartlepool. Would be a very good replacement for Whitfield.

Link - young loan striker coming in but not available for FA cup action. Promising. Looks to have some physicality about him at least. Hopefully pace and trickery as well.
