Hi all, Many thanks for all your reports - I didn't even get to listen to the commentary on the radio yesterday. I suppose for the first away game of the season, that the result was reasonably satisfactory but seems that the team can and must do better. I was slightly surprised at the line up and in particularly playing Danny Stevens on the left wing. Surely he should be challenging Carlisle for the RW spot, or at least coming on as a sub if Carlisle is having a poor game? I thought that was the whole point of having a competitive squad with extra options on the bench I am still not sure about starting Benyon up front as he did look somewhat lightweight in the pre season matches I saw - Bristol/Chelsea. However, he was the top pre-season scorer and apparently had a good game so hopefully would like to be proved wrong. I also like the notion that the strikers have a fight on their hands just to make the subs bench!!! I suspect that Nicholson will start in games where we need to be more attacking such as at home and against weaker opposition - however, after starting every game for us last season, I like the notion that he has to fight for his place in the side. I am still not sure about the Hargreaves experiment and will wait to see how that pans out - Roll on Tuesday night - after losing at home to Altrinham, I suspect that Woking won't be looking forward to coming to Plainmoor

Good morning rjd, I must confess I also found the lineup, slightly strange. As you say Stevens playing on the left was the strange one for me. It seems Carlisle was not having his best game, having Stevens on the bench, meant he could have come on for Carlisle.
I think Woking, will be harder to beat because they lost, they won't to lose the first two games, so will come here determined not to lose. Does mean our forwards may have to work really hard to get any chances.

Good morning Dave, I thought Woking were very poor at Plainmoor last year and expect that they will be negative and "try" to get a draw again! To this end I think the starting line up with be different from Histon and the emphasis will be on attack ( I hope ). Should be a good game to watch -

Lets hope its a great game to watch, seems some fans are a bit down after yesterdays match.
We need to put on a good display for our first home game. I would hope that we at least get two goals and would like to see Green and Sills start up front togeather.
Its a long season and I fear that fans expectations are way to high, we do have a good squad, but many other teams feel that they also have squads capable of getting promotion.

I'm sure our fans are feeling less down than our promotion rival fans of Oxford and Stevenage. ;D ;D ;D
I think it is fair to say that we got off to a flyer last season with 32 points from the first 13 games ! ( That's virtually 2.5 points per game - well above the Dave Shaw standard mark of 2 points per game ;D ) However, the first game was a 0 - 0 bore draw with Grays and I don't think we looked like scoring in that game. (So didn't really set the tone for the rest of the season finishing as joint top scorers in the league.)
I also have a feeling that Green may start on Tuesday.
