petef I remember your very first thread you started on here
"some big boots to fill"
I think you saw us missing them more than most other fans did, I would now have to agree with you, we are going to miss them more than we thought we would.

We used to have better results away from home a few years ago and that may be the case for this season. Away support is good with this club and maybe, just maybe, the home 'tag' got to the chaps tonight. Yes, I agree, a bad bad perfformance, but not the end of the world. The support Aldershot had last season would make a difference but I can't make the difference as I'm not there. What do real home fans think?

Well Merse is correct on one thing and that is we need to regroup. I hope no one starts calling for Buckle to be sacked on here, my view is that mistakes have been made tonight, Hargreaves is not a defender and It time to put that idea to bed.
Stevens In my view should have only been on the bench tonight, still Its not the end of the world, its early days and I'm sure things can be sorted.

Sorry Merse, but that was one of the most embarrassing and shambolic performances I have ever seen at Plainmoor, and although I won't countenance the booing at the end, people do have the right to make their opinion known, just as you do.
Having also had the displeasure to arrive home in time for Paul Buckle's embarrassing post-match interview on Setanta, I have to question his passion for the game. 'I'm not going to rant and rave, I know we played badly, but move on....' come on, can you imagine other managers having that kind of attitude after a performance like that? Sure don't rant and rave if the players put in an effort and lose, but to lose with no passion, no pride and no effort was nothing short of embarrassing....even the guys sitting around me who never have a bad thing to say about anybody couldn't understand some of the shocking managerial decisions Buckle made tonight.
Starting Stevens against a physical side was just wrong; making him go back and defend corners is ridiculous and continuing this Hargreaves experiment cost us any chance of getting back into the game. But with Todd now injured and seeming likely to miss a couple of games, at least, we could be in for a few more games like this.
Mansell's selection as MOTM was greeted with a mixture of boos and laughter in the stands, and that really summed up the evening.
I hope I don't have nightmares!

Just got back and, well, that was really bad. From the 2 home games so far, we've had about 20 minutes of decent football and, if it continues, I can really see the crowd dwindling. I'll be there, but I wonder if I would if I hadn't bought a season ticket. (What am I on about? 'course I would, I love the club, but it's really painful to watch at the moment). Things have got to improve, and im sure they will, but it needs to happen now. Buckle needs to play his best players in their best position and move Hargreaves out of defence, or we can kiss promotion goodbye. The whole team was woeful tonight and I would have struggled to pick a man of the match, was surprised when Mansell was awarded it, but I guess he was the best of a bad bunch. Cant think of anything positive to say about tonights performance, apart from The fact that I'm positive that Buckle hasnt worked out how to get the best of these players YET. I think that Merse is right that we need to put this one behind us and move on. On a lighter note, it was great to see Hilly get some recognition at half time. Would love to see him back at the club in a coaching role when he eventually hangs his boots up.
To change the subject to what Dave R mantioned earlier about, if the site is really worth the bothering with due to the low number of postings, I would rather read 2 quality postings per day, than read posts from the 100 obnoxious kids on the other site. Keep up the great work Dave and this site will grow.

Your correct there Dave. Two things missing from us tonight - passion and ability. Phillips has the former in abundance and Zebs both with a massive work rate, very difficult to find at our level and somehow Phillips slipped away with little protest. I hope I am wrong but it feels like a relegation struggle already.

Quality posts lads. For Mr B's post-match chat - I think he is the kinda guy who will never give the 'big-one' in interviews but save it for the dressing room. Sir Alex Scotsperson does the same and I think it's right. If it was me there would be some extra training for some boys and some re-thinking for myself on tactics.

Dave, you have carte-blanche to say what you like. I may not always agree but I'm riding on the coat-tails of all your good work here and, so, all power to you! Say what you feel old chap! Cack - is a good word.

Absolutely awful...utterly abject.
Why does PB think that Hargreaves is a good fit in defense? Why buy all these midfielders when there's not the space for them in the squad?
It seems to me that we have bought players for the sake of it, and are just trying to fit them in for the sake of it and completely shafting the balance of the side.
People booing doesn't help, but can you really blame them? Standing in the driving rain and howling wind to watch that tripe?
(Has anyone else noticed that the current crop of "Rose tinters" are those who criticised those who were rose-tinted about the Batseon regime??!!)

I only wish I knew - but to start with Carayol and Ellis coming into the side for Stevens and Hargreaves, with the latter going into midfield alongside Wroe, who seems to have more idea about passing than Thompson, who really disappointed me tonight. It's getting almost towards the point I might even consider having Woods back in the side. NURSE, THE SCREEENS!

Cack - is a good word. Well thank you old chat, its hard to have to be strong all the time for those all around me in these dark days. That is why the forum is so very important to me, but there are times when even I find it just to hard for me to keep up the front I have to put up all the time. So I hope most will understand and not let it effect them using the forum. I hope better days will come, but rest assured, I'm fully committed to this forum and making it a success.

Bet he starts wih Hargreaves in the back four on Saturday and brings Sstevens back for corners
