I have at long last put behind me the disappointment I felt about our last two games, one point from six sure blew the chance to make the last game of the season one where the winner would have been crowned the champions of the BSP. That game we will just have to deal with the possibility that Burton may well be having a party in our ground.
Time to move on and look to get a result against Stevenage on Saturday and I think you will agree, its not going to be an easy task. We have proved before we can rise to the challenge in the big games and we will need to do that again, getting three points that will give us a big chance of being in the play-offs is all that matters now, if we don't want to see another season end in tears.
Sills is an important player but what with the penalty miss will he really be feeling confident? I still feel that Sturrock and Green would be our best combination up front and that is what I hope would be the strikers to start the game.but I would expect Bucks may go with Sills and Sturrock up front and Green may not even make the bench.
I have not changed my mind on Chris Todd, I feel he is not looking so strong and really needs to be rested, he has done so well but there comes a time when we all need to put the brakes on and I feel that time has come for Chris.
So maybe Hodges needs to come back into defense, or why not give Ellis that start he deserves, two man of the match performances in his last two games he started, tells me he won't let the team down.
We do need Hargreaves back in the middle along side Wroe, who needs to get his passing back to its best, as on his day he is one of the best midfield players in the BSP.
Carlisle on the left and Dsane on the right, they can always switch when needed, I think Carayol or Stevens will be better coming on from the bench later in the game. Likewise I feel Benyon has more impact when he also comes on from the bench.
A draw would not be a bad result, but I'll stick my neck out and say we will win by the odd goal, the team will surely bounce back after the last two games.

Hargreaves isn't suspended after all. I would expect him to come in for Brough and Sturrock for Benyon. I wouldn't mind seeing Green and Sturrock play together, but I doubt that will happen other than Green coming from the bench.
I'll be making the trip for this one. I can't see us winning as they haven't lost at Broadhall Way since the turn of the century. A draw would at least put us one point nearer and them two further away.

Rob it said in tonights H.E. that it was his ninth booking and not the tenth has had been thought. Would it have been just a one game ban for 10 bookings? If so maybe a booking on Saturday would be a good thing as he would then only miss the Barrow game.
Would not want to see him miss a play-off semi final game, or even the final itself.

There is a date, beyond which the ban would be incurred next season not this season but what that date is I'm not sure. Anyone know?

There is a date, beyond which the ban would be incurred next season not this season but what that date is I'm not sure. Anyone know? It would appear that the deadline has passed - according to the FA site the 10 bookings rule, which would lead to an automatic 2 match ban, only applies if they were incurred by the second Sunday in April (i.e. 12th April 2009), in other words last Sunday. Given that Greavsie only has 9 bookings so far (as confirmed in todays Herald) then even if he incurs another booking (or two) this season then the worst he will get is a ticking off! See here: 6. PUNISHMENTS – Relating to First Team Competitive Matches (a) CAUTIONS ADMINISTERED ON THE FIELD OF PLAY (i) If a Player accumulates five recorded cautions in FTCM between the opening day of the Playing Season and the last day in February in the same Season, he will be suspended automatically for a period covering: - One First Team Match (ii) If a Player accumulates five recorded cautions in FTCM between the opening day of the Playing Season and the last day of the same Season, he will be: - “Warned as to his Future Conduct” (iii) A Player who has already been subject to disciplinary action as a result of recording five cautions and then proceeds to record a further five cautions during the same Season, will be subject to the following punishments: - (iv) If a Player accumulates ten recorded cautions in FTCM between the opening day of the Playing Season and the second Sunday of April in the same Season, he will be suspended automatically for a period covering:- Two First Team matches(v) If a Player accumulates ten recorded cautions in FTCM between the opening day of the Playing Season and the last day of the same Season, he will be: - “Severely Censured and Warned as to his future Conduct”(vi) If a Player accumulates 15 recorded cautions in FTCM between the opening date of the Playing Season and the last day of the same Season, he will be suspended automatically for a period covering: -

After last night's result, I think it's fair to say that nothing short of three points will do tomorrow. A draw wouldn't be a tragedy, but a defeat and we really are in trouble.
We haven't been outside the playoff zone since the middle of February and we've been on a nice little run to really show the sides around us that we mean business. It would be a tremendous shame to stutter to the end of the season and miss out on a playoff spot through sheer incompetence.
Hopefully Burton will clinch the league tonight and not be desperately looking for points against us next weekend.

Picking up on Daves point re strikers, had a wacky thought. Has Sills ever played centre back? His defensive headers go without question and his awarenes up front would pose a threat for set pieces. Not saying we should experiment now but would it be an option if Todd has over done it?

Aah, takes me back to the days of Lee Thorpe under Atkins.
A lovely idea Buster, but only if we were REALLY struggling for centre-backs.
I'd rather see Ellis or Hodges alongside Robertson.

The look on the faces of some of those middle aged biddies in the Burton crowd tonight was a picture...................like they had seen the bloke behind them had his wotsit out and was relieving himself but they didn't want to tell their husband. ;D Just love watching their discomfort and lack of bottle, maybe we're destined to meet and beat them in the play off semis, so tomorrow is certainly one of the biggest games in OUR history and we have to be positive, assertive, calm, cool and collected. One point won't be a disaster in the context that we have THREE games still to go. I'm now off to the bedroom to tie Bijou's legs together so that I can DEFINITLEY watch the game virtually on my doorstep tomorrow, but what will be; will be. I'd rather face Burton in the play off semis than any other side. Oxford, like Cambridge and Histon; will set out to foul and stop the game at every opportunity to disrupt our rhythm and pattern of play. At least facing Kiddie or Stevenage the game should be more of an opportunity to get hold of the ball and play a bit, but you don't get what you want and often you don't want what you get in the ugly, unpleasant world of the play offs. Still, we have to get there first and it ain't going to be easy!

As Gordon Ramsey suggests Its who has the balls is what it amounts to with Stevenage to play us and Kiderminster and they win if they win both they are there. 4 points may just be enough for us but the more I look at the reamaining fixtures and table the more confusing it gets and knowing our recent luck with last game scenarios the most unlikeley set of results will see us fall short. I would be disapointed if Burton were pipped as they have been easily the most consistent side through the nine months and if they need to get something on the last day against usCambridge would still have to win both remaining games and increase their goal difference by 6. A tall order not impossible though against Salisbury who will proabbly run up the white flag and Altrincham. Hope Barrow beat Crawley which may take the pressure off them on Tuesday. No doubt about it its ours to win and ours to lose.

Burton were the best team by far under Clough but Roy Mac is another matter just take a look at their form and they wouldn't have even made the play offs if he had been there all year (Leroy!! ;D)
