It frustrated me yesterday, because it seemed chance after chance went begging for us, then from a goalmouth scrap they score. . ANother thing that annoyed me was the fact that people around me were moaning about Matt Green. Okay, I know on Boxing Day he should and easily could have scored more than the one he did score, when he was put through on goal four times in the second half. But, I feel he is a good asset to the team, as he can hold the ball well, he can win headers, and he can create chances for the team. At Weymouth, he created those four chances through on goal with his pace and strength. There is a big difference between Green and Benyon - the fact that Green can hold off a couple of challenges and keep the ball, while, I don't think Benyons strong enough to do that. One thing I noticed though yesterday, was that when Sills and Green play together, it seems like Sills drops back into midfield and Green is a lone striker, which I dont think works because we need Sills' aerial ability and Greens off the ball running to combine to create the sort of chances he had yesterday and on Boxing Day. I was a bit dissapointed with the result yesterday, and I was a little dissapointed/frustrated with the number of chances we missed. I hope Dsane is fit again on Saturday, and we can upset our Championship opposition and progress. Oh, and one final note. I was confused yesterday, as the Kidderminster captain, Mark Creighton, got sent off the other day at Crawley. The Herald Express said he would be ineligible to play today, as he was suspended, but he played. Does anybody know if that was just a mistake by the Herald, or was he actually suspended??

According to this: www.thefa.com/TheFA/Disciplinary/SuspensionLists/he was suspended for 1 match from the 20 December - presume that would have been the match against FGR they drew on Boxing Day. Just read the match report on the Kiddy website - link here: www.harriers.co.uk/page/TheGaffer/0,,10438~1502429,00.html Particuarly like the bit that says "After a quiet first half that the hosts edged....." isnt it funny how different people see the game!!

If you read the "other site" - most are writing him off as rubbish . It says a lot for the few posters left on dot.net. There's one ( Jane) who never seems to go to a game - not even just up the road from her house at Weymouth the other day - and she's rattling on about "Bucks bizarre selection decisions"You couldn't make it up could you!

I would just like to make a note about one remark Merse has made about another person on .net, it is my understanding there are very good reasons and not ones she would want to have as to why she is unable to attend games. It is so easy at times to attack other people, but we really need to be fully aware of their personal circumstances before we do.

Ah right okay, thanks for that Scott.
I just wasn't fully sure whether he was still suspended for our game and they were "doing a droylsden."
I'm guessing his sending off was two yellows, therefore it being only a one game ban, while a straight red would have kept him out.

How pleasing to read all the positive comments about Matt Green. I thought i was watching a different game to most around me yesterday and anyone who can't see how good he's going to be must be blind. I'm a big fan of benyon, but green has made the 2nd striker spot his own now. Hope he gets a good run in the side now to build some confidence. I must be blind then ! Whilst I fully agree Green needs match practice and confidence, yesterday I felt he was poor all round. When having a run on goal and a chance to open his legs he is a very good forward to have, but if he can't finish whats the point. His first touch and passing was poor and his balance was shocking, in hindsight I'd have rather started with Benyon. Stevens and Green in my opinion were the main reasons we couldn't break down the excellent Kiddie back four. They showed no vision, and seemed unable to see passes or through balls, maybe they were both trying that little bit to hard to impress the manager, what ever the reason it must have been a hard choice for PB to risk subbing them early and shatter any confidence they do have or leave them on in the hope something clicks, as it was he chose the latter and that was the making of our downfall. Wroe's shooting was shocking, Sills battled all day and was the only attacking player of ours who won his personal battle. The right back marking Stevens had him sussed from the first minute, he didn't get single cross in past that right back for the whole of the first half. Having said all that, I came away feeling I'd enjoyed the game, Kiddie know they got lucky, it happens. Let's be honest, who really believed Sills would score that penalty, not me thats for sure. It really was "one of those days" Full marks to both defences though, ours for being the first line of attack and Kiddies for holding strong on what was a full on assault in the second half.

It is so easy at times to attack other people, but we really need to be fully aware of their personal circumstances before we do. Hey there, I have not attacked anyone. I have pointed out the nonsense of someone who does not attend games calling the manager's selection decisions "bizarre". To my way of thinking, to be able to do that and remain unchallenged is as "bizarre" as me complaining about the stewarding at Plainmoor when I am clearly NOT there to witness it. I am sure you would soon enough (and correctly) pull me up for that. I sympathise with anyone who cannot attend even one game they would wish to be at but cannot for whatever reason...............it happens to me enough; but I cannot accept the manager being criticised from someone who is clearly NOT in a position to form a valid opinion. You would not, and will not; find me expressing opinions formed by any medium except my own eyes. I made reference to the "other site" to see what JMGull had read to prompt him to post as he did......................there are several sites I read but do not contribute to (The Blue Square Non League Forum being one, due to the uncontrolled abusive and boorish behaviour of Oxford fans on it) but that does not mean I "need to move on" any more than the next man who chooses to read or refer to them. By the way, I think your "poem" is crap, Dave..............don't give up the day job mate! ;D

Crap it may be Merse, but as always that is just your own personal opinion, but it does contain a 2009 message that I do feel would make a good new years resolution for you to consider.

Well I don't mind saying that I thought Green had a shocker on Boxing Day. He could have had a hundred more one on ones without scoring, such was his tensing up when it became obvious to him that there was no pass on. It sounds as if there was much of the same yesterday.

It wouldn't upset me if he and Carayol/Stevens went out on loan and Ashley Barnes and Dan Smith came our way.

No amount of confidence or match practice is going to improve someone who simply could not score in a brothel, 75-80% of the time he should score those opportunities when raw, the other 20-25 % is the polishing of the so called diamond, he should bury a much higher percentage of shots than he does even with out match practice or confidence, when match fit and fully confident he should finish 90% or more of his efforts. Go and watch some park footy and you will see much higher finishing percentages than what was on offer on Boxing Day. I say he should be given one last opportunity to prove this Oxford hysteria about him or he should resign!

rjdgull, that really sums up the point I made abut all strikers go through patches where they miss good chances, even the very best and most expensive players. You have to shoot to score and I would be more worried if we were not creating any chances at all.
I'm convinced Green will get us goals and its games he needs to sharpen up, he will need that having played so few games and that is why I asked the question on a thread I started. Should Green Have Featured From The Start
because if he had done, we would know all the answer we are looking for by now.

Aussie, you are talking nonsense with your %'s. I play park footy and can assure you that the hit ratio is nowhere near that high. A decent striker will score 1 in 3 or 4. Sometimes everything you hit goes in, sometimes the goal looks tiny and you can't even get it on target. I've gone through both stages many many times and you just get on with it. People like you calling for Green's resignation are not going to help. I hope you were joking....
