RIP Pete Shelley - part of that perfect day 1 January 1980: Yes i think the high point was winning 2 1 at Bournemouth on new years day 1980. Never forget Steve Cooper scoring the winner past Kenny Allen that day if my memory is correct. Coops scored up the far end in the first half. The second half winner was right in front of us at the away end. Left back Phil Ferns sliced a clearance which looped up and over their 6'4" keeper and under the bar. We laughed and laughed at such a tall keeper getting "lobbed" by his own player and laughed even more when the Catweazle lookalike went absolutely mental at the goalscorer. Little did I know how many times I would see that keeper go mental at defenders - and what a TUFC legend he would become. I remember the radio playing the Buzzcocks on the way home and it seemed like everyone on the coach joined in singing along. If Carlsberg did away trips .....

Tonight I watched the BBC 4 programme about Roxy Music, who in my opinion are the greatest group the world has ever seen. However, it was all about Bryan Ferry, with little or no mention of Andy Mackay, the best saxophone player of all time, or of Paul Thompson, Phil Manzanera or the original bass player, Graham Simpson. Very disappointed with what was supposed to be the history of the group, but which quickly became the life story of a would-be crooner. He would have been nothing without the support of the original band members.

It was the Big O on the telly for me both last night and tonight. Here’s a couple 25 years apart.
Obviously plenty of others well known to this thread being a part of the latter, which was first released in January 1989, a few weeks after the great man’s death. Below a live performance of in Antwerp with his fellow Traveling Wilburys.

He knew Bryan Ferry quite well...he thought he was an arse!

.........I always so, so wanted this to be a Xmas song but a bit of "tinterwebbery" research proves otherwise - it is in fact regarding drug abuse - still a fine, fine song............

This has to be the saddest song ever written/sung, always brings me to tears! Nice to see some of the TFF members getting to enjoy themselves as well!

Interesting facts about John Lydon: He was booked on the tragic Lockerbie flight...cancelled at the last moment. This came out to clash (no pun) with the Queens Jubilee thing! Prince Charles wrote to Lydon, asking him to make fun of him (Charles) instead of the Queen! Words Charles allegedly wrote: God bless the prince... Let's make him into mince... He's got stupid stick out ears... Get's his kicks shooting Deer's! Watched an old clip of Lydon on an American Talk Show yesterday: very funny...very intelligent man!
