Seemingly, Noddy and Jim get half a million quid each in royalties for the song every year, which is good, because it did away with all the stereotypical songs at Christmas. 🦤

Rather than watching the stale old Jools Holland show for this year's New Years Eve programme, I thought I would watch Channel 5's offering of the best 50 songs of the 1980s. I really couldn't believe it when they announced that a crap song like Last Christmas by Wham was voted number 1 by the public, when this was only number 2:

The Queen song revived a lot of memories for me, as Freddie Mercury's passing was a really sad event, but it also brought about the retirement at a really young age of John Deacon, who was in my opinion the greatest bass player of his era, because he could not continue with the band as he thought that Paul Rodgers could not possibly replace Freddie. He was of course right, but what a loss he was to Brian May and Roger Taylor in the decades still ahead of them.
