It was only five weeks ago we were leading up at Crewe Alexandra when in the last minute of the game we let in a late equalizer that was blamed on Poke and we ended up dropping two very valuable points, something we had done in other recent games.
By some very good fortune in one home game and playing away in our last home game against a team who could not take their chances, we have been able to put some points on the board and ease away a bit from the drop zone.
This game is very winnable but like all games we will have to earn the right to win it and our players will need to be at their best and work hard for the whole ninety minutes.
I can see Bucks lining up the team in much the same way he has done for the last two games we have played, making us as solid as possible and tight at the back has worked well recently and if its working then leave it as it is.
The only changes we might see is Rendell starting instead of Barnes and I would not start Benyon but bring him on later in the game as he has proved time and time again he is a good impact player to bring off the bench.
Another three points would really get us believing we are heading for safety, but if it was just to be a single point in the end, it still could be the one point that made all the difference at the end of the season.

Interesting you mentioned Poke's mistake against Crewe, as since Bevan has returned in goal we have been unbeaten. Maybe Poke's dip in form was due to him carrying an injury, as his kicking was really suffering as well.
All successful teams need a strong spine running down it and I think we are getting there in that respect. Bevan in goal, Branston in defence, I really rate Mansell back in midfield with his energy and commitment. Attack is arguably our weak area to complete a strong spine. With Rendell now returning he could be the missing link as he is our only attacker who can play as our target man.
I get the impression in recent weeks there has been a change in our play, and you could argue we have gone back to basics. Gone are the pacy wingers and full-backs who often flattered to deceive in my opinion. It may have been exciting to watch but we were not gaining many points. For example Jake Thomson looks like a Theo Walcott when in full flow and provided some great moments, but all too often ran down blind alleys and wasted possession.
Now we are relying on longs throws again and building slowly. We might be pretty ordinary to watch these days with a lack of flair but at least we are picking up points. I think Buckle had got too far ahead of himself in trying a more progressive and exciting way of playing and has now made something of a u-turn.

I had this team in mind even before yesterday. Bevan Robertson Ellis Pickles Smith Carlisle Mansell O'Kane Wroe Zebroski Rendell Benyon and Carayol, possibly even Stevens to come off the bench. I would imagine that two weeks without rain will mean a somewhat firmer pitch. Crewe did us a huge favour in the week and are now about as mid table as you can get. Hopefully, they can do us another favour tomorrow by losing. ;D

I think Wroe has to play in the centre of midfield. We do need to keep a fresh striker on the bench so I wonder if Zebroski will play up front. Whilst I would love to see Smith back in I cannot see Rowe-Turner being left out. The worry for me is that Joel Grant could cause problems for either full back. With Zola being out for them this looks like a good opportunity for three points. I hope we don't go too defensive though but would like to see Jake Thomson on the bench to come on with Carayol and Benyon later in the game.

I firmly believe we need to get Smith starting this game and at left back and I would also feel that Muzzy has done well enough lately to start the game as well. Its hard to call it up front as in my view Rendell and Benyon play well together but if Bucks was to start with them then he would not leave Zebs out and so you can be sure he would start on the wing. That may well happen anyway as while Carlisle is back training I don't think Bucks will start him and will do what he did a few games ago and bring on Carlisle in the second half. Bevan is looking more his old self and while some will feel Poke is the better of our two keepers, I think a fully fit Bevan has just wins it for me. I do agree that Wroe should move back to midfield as Thompson offers so little, but with every single point so important, Bucks may well line up the team as he did for our last few games and try and keep it as tight as we can and hope we can nick a goal or two at the other end.

Dave I`d go with your team except one thing Wroe for Thomson, with Smith in behind Thomson and Eunan inside of them we would for once have a cracking left side, Carlisle on the right with Manse battling in the middle, Zeb and Rendell up top!

I had a dream last night that we won 3-0. Can't tell you the scorers. Hope it comes true.

It really is a lovely morning here in the Bay and a perfect day for a game of football to be played, mind you I’ have been wondering this morning if the break in the clouds was just over my house and I was the only one enjoying some sunshine, as it seems others have not woke up as happy as they might have this morning.
Really looking forward to today’s game and feel it’s a game we can win and three more points would be wonderful and even more so if other results went our way again as they have been doing lately.
It is hard these days to know just how Bucks will line up our players at the start, all I hope is each players gives 100% and if they all do that then I won’t ask anymore of them and nor should any other fan.
I hope we see a good size gate with it being such a nice day and they show their support the way supporters are meant to and not get on the players or Bucks back if the game does not go our way early on it.
Will try and get my match report done before I have to pop out for a while to celebrate a family’s members birthday and I’m looking forward to reading others match reports and views on the game later.

I wonder how many times Benyon will be "on the scamper" today?

Is that your sole contribution for the w**k Mr C**k? Back to the drawing board for you then Disappointingly cost us four places in the league that equaliser, but 1-1 v Crewe? I'd have taken that before the game it seems like Dario's "subbing of a sub" was an interesting way of skinning a cat.................... a wily old man that Gradi, and a ruddy good job they missed that penalty !
