A total shock to hear that Exeter City striker Adam Stansfield has passed away this evening, on the night they played Ipswich in the cup.
He was diagnosed with cancer which really does put football in perpective. Adam was born in Tiverton, starting his professional career at Yeovil, moving to Yeovil and then Exeter.
Really sad when you hear this, and my thoughts go to his wife and children. This is the time people need to come together and just like when Exeter & Plymouth fans gave Chris Todd messeges when he was diagnosed with cancer.
R.I.P. Adam Stansfield

Chinese mudslide death toll exceeds 900. One nomark footballer cops it and we all have to wail and beat our chests. A non story.

Crass idiotic statements like that can be extremely revealing of the person who makes them. Not that it is really relevant, but Adam Stansfield so very nearly became a Torquay United player on more than one occasion; including the time he was seeking his first ever professional contract.

Bollox, the bleeding hearts weep their missing the point buckets again. If i know someone or a friend loses someone respect and sympathy are due. If i shop in Tescos and an employee from another branch carks it, what's it to do with me? Should i start a thread to Doris the tesco worker? Ridiculous. This sort of false sincerity has more to do with selfish motives. Reminds me of the old dears who go to funerals for the social. If Exeter fans want to start a thread on their site it's up to them, but it's got as much to do with us as Doris the Tesco worker. So stop your eye dabbing and find something else to bleat about.

Davethegull anytime anyone dies is sad, he was a local football player and only 31 years old. If people want to post their respects they are more than welcome, if you don't like that then just do not read the thread. When someone dies from cancer it brings home to many on here who I know have family who are fighting this terrible thing as is my own wife, what we all do not need is for people like you to make the posts you have on this thread. If you can't show any respect then keep your thoughts to yourself.

If you can't show any respect then keep your thoughts to yourself. Exactly. Showing respect or even being tactile is not obligatory, but being respectful in an instance like this certainly is. If you can't show your own respect then at least allow others to do without being offended by your extremely poor taste and show some respect to them. Pipe down and start acting your age DtG, you're not an attention seeking adolescent; so why act like one?

If writing things like this on a fans forum is the only way to get noticed DTG you are a very lonely person. Adam Stansfield was a parent with a partner and children to feed each week. His death has more to do with us than the shite you come out with. Adam Stansfield R.I.P.

Very sad news indeed, although I had heard a few weeks ago that he had weeks to live. I understand he has 3 kids as well.

Been there and got the t-shirt too many times. An ex-player or friend of the club i can understand. Someone who has nothing to do with us is just self pandering emotional conscience salving. kidding yourself that you're actully genuinely sorry and not just parroting is hypocisy. Let's start a thread for the 900 chinese dead, we didn't know them either. But of course you can't pretend to be sincere about that one. I can't stand bullshit and this thread is just that. No one really cares they're just mouthing the words to make themselves look saintly. If you were truely that caring you would have expressed condolences to the chinese dead too. Just as much relevence but not so self serving.

What hangover would that be? I'm working in a strictly muslim area, little chance of a beer (or bacon sandwich)......oh i see you're trying to imply i'm drunk...very good. Maybe you should get a job merson rather than swinging the lead.
