Only a couple more days to go, hopefully not too many members will be switching their tv off for the next two months.
England squad now selected with Root set to open as opposed to Compton. Will certainly be targeted but if he can establish himself there what a cracking opening partnership that could be. Onions, Bresnan and Finn fight it out for the final spot with the latter favourite to get the nod?

Personally now would like to see Bresnan....he always performs against this lot......can also see kp having a great series.....basically we have to much depth and quality for them to bother us....... ha ha si

In Affectionate remembrance of ENGLISH CRICKET, which died at the Oval on 29th August 1882. Deeply lamented by a large circle of sorrowing friends and acquaintances. RIP. NB.

I still say advantage to the Aussies - One big partnership and a wagging tail away from a substantial first innings lead - but the bookies disagree. England 8/13 Aussies 6/4 Draw 12/1 very much game on...

Your right keyberry ,very much game on,like to think the Aussie tail won't wag though........we have been given a lifeline, after our dismal batting performance.....sure it won't happen again in the 2nd innings.....si

Very good batting pitch but quite a bit of swing in the cloudy conditions today. today. Looks like the sun will be coming out and maybe Swann will be key for the fourth innings. In the meantime, will Broad be fit to bowl otherwise we could struggle unless we get a couple of early wickets. Any first innings lead will put us in the driving seat. Game on.

The beauty of test match cricket 'hullgull' and that is what makes its so unpredictable. I've only played a handful of games where events in the second innings determine its outcome. It's like starting again believe me! But as a player, you know that events can be reversed identically and the game could end in a tie! And if you are going to win a game like this a player needs to grasp the nettle. Whoever that player is, we will have to wait and see. ....................... ................................. Any ideas?

Well keyberry just in from work.......and when heard they were 117/9.,I thought 80 or 90 lead......well that didn't go to plan did it......was gobsmacked when they got that total...could not believe it.....right just seen the 2 early wickets we lost......at this moment I am in shock with the days events so far....being the positive person I am......just want us to bat big and long at least to Saturday....but this match is bound to have more twist and turns before the end no doubt.....it's a bit like supporting our beloved gulls.....you never know what you going to get .....but that's why we love them don't we ha ha .. Give credit where it’s due. One hell of a wag from the debutante and Phil Hughes, game very much still on. 8/15 England - 7/4 Aussies – 14 Draw I wonder what the odds are for Agar to hit the winning runs and for him to bat at 11 ever again? I've no idea which way this one is going to go...

Yeah maybe have to eat humble pie...credit to agar.....but if a number11can get 98........with the forecast a hot one tomorrow.....here's hoping for some massive runs from cooky and kp......but as said in a previous post could be twists and turns......so get the runs in the bag tomorrow and into Saturday....then swanny skittle em....THAT'S THE THEORY ANYWAY.....ha ha.......si
