Bucks must quite like this competition having in four seasons always got through at least two rounds and ended up with the big boys in the third round draw three times but without the luck of getting a premiership side!
Having lost one Carlisle, we now have another coming to Plainmoor and I won't have no complaints if they get a similar reception to that which poor Wayne had to endure. Carlisle have had a mixed competition so far with a crowd pleasing 6-0 win against Tipton Town in the first round before a struggle at home against Tamworth needing two goals in the last five minutes to win 3-2. After crossing their "T"s twice (off the draw), they will hope to make it three in a row against Torquay to re-ignite their season that has cooled after a good start.
Torquay, on the other hand have been quite consistent in this competition with two 1-0 wins and I'm sure another clean sheet and preferably result, would go down as well with many supporters as a shed load of goals.
Of course, everyone will have their own opinion as to the line up and tactics but against higher league opposition I would persist with the same formation and leave Billy and Danny on the bench as good options to change the game later on if required. A replay is not ideal and whilst this has not been required in recent years I am sure Bucks will go all out for the win which will be a positive for the club on so many levels.

this game is very hard to predict, but one thing for sure this will be our hardest cup challenge yet,if our defence doesnt pick up considerably we will be punished for sure,we always have a goal in us no doubts, but the defence will need to be tip top,if it is,i predict another tight game 1-0 our way

I don’t like these sorts of games as they always seem to have a prewritten script that plays out the same way. You know what I mean as you have watched plenty of these games before. TUFC are the far better team and look the team from the higher division, they go close a number of times, hit the post, the crossbar, the ball gets cleared off the line when it looked a certain goal.
Two minutes left on the clock and they go and get the only goal, only there is not enough time left to get back into the game. Leave the ground with mixed emotions, yep the boys played so well and good enough to win the match and yet were robbed right at the death.
Is the script already written for this match? Or can our boys write a script that will not only see us win a third round tie, but put us in the hat with the chance of getting that dream draw that the law of averages says just has to be one of the really big boys. A draw that would more than make up for the lost crowds( mind you they would all come back for a game against Man U at home) and might even put a nice tidy sum in the bank to cover any loses this season.
We are more than capable of scoring goals against first division clubs, so that is not something we need to worry about. The form that Elliot is in should fill most fans with plenty of confidence that even if we fell behind in the game, we can get back into it time permitting.
The worry has to be can we stop them from scoring, well looking at how our defence has let in a number of goals in recent games, you fear unless they greatly improve in this game, that might be where the game could be lost.
For me Mark Ellis who made some saving tackles and blocks against Oxford needs to just relax slightly and not be so on edge fearing he is going to make a mistake. Against Oxford at times, he looked like someone going out in a brand new car for the first time, well you know what happens don’t you? They drive so carefully and not normally how they drive and they end up crashing the bloody thing. Just stay big Mark, read what’s going on around you and anticipate and you will do just fine.
I don’t think there is any point asking for Kee to start up front with Benyon, I’m sure Bucks will stick to the same starting eleven he put out against Oxford. The only change might be young Lathrope who I don’t think will offer us enough in midfield against a first division club.
Its time our fortunes and luck change, we are a good honest family club run by good people and not only deserve that good fortune, I believe we have earned it as well.

Dave you must take into account that there have been clubs after Elliot and he might not be here, I for one hope he stays, if he does go what impact on selection would that have? Would we still stick with one up top and the same midfield combo or would it change to suit Billy`s strengths, possibly Billy and Eunan up top for example that would be quite an exiting pairing, this would also require a rethink in the centre of midfield, Mansell maybe with someone else at right back like Robbo provided Guy is fit, Oastler next to Manse with Zeb on one flank and Danny on the other. Also will Bevs keep his spot? Impossible to pick now, need to get closer to the day to see what we have to work with, it also depends on the homework done on Carlisle and the understanding of their formation and style used in that formation. I can`t wait because potentially we could really shock them!

If and when he goes Aussie, it won't be until after this game and I say that only because he is cup tied to us and could not play for another team in a latter round. I'm sure any team signing him would let him have this game as his last game for TUFC.
But, I love that word BUT if he was not here then I would start with Kee and leave everything else much the same to start off with.

Talking about footballers being sold, now I know why my parents always said Plymouth was good for the January sales!

That`s a very good point me mucker and I`m not on about your apparent love for buts, the cup tied bit I was on about! I`m really happy for Billy getting that goal, he came running over bursting with joy when he scored that, you could see how much it meant to him! And you could see the other players were made up for him as well, BUT (Daves favourite word!) you should have seen how down he was at the final wistle after doing what he really wanted to do, score a damn goal from open play and prove me wrong! He shat them up no end and was brilliant BUT, like Elliot after the game were almost shell shocked by the winning goal that was a massive kick in the teeth!

Damp squib or the most important result and subsequent draw in the clubs history. Those are the two extremes that face us on Saturday. The weather has been dreadful but looks like clearing for the match so hopefully the drainage will do its job and the match goes ahead there could be a small boost in the gate with many local fixtures looking under threat and with all the festivities out of the way you would think a competitive FA cup match would be an attractive alternative for the football lover. This result has the possibility of being far more important than where we end up in the league, bottom two places excluded of course. Potentially, if it all goes in our favour the right result and draw could secure the immediate and long term future of the club and would take the pressure off the board in these times of poor crowds and limited cash flow. They deserve a positve result and unlike last Monday when our lot were like church mice , hope the crowd does everything they can to cheer and support the players for the 90 minutes.

most important result and subsequent draw in the clubs history. Beat Carlisle and away to Manchester Utd - can't wait for Branston vs Rooney.

I thought Robbo did well personally though their second was partly down to him when he was out jumped in the area. Brano is a rock though and maybe that's what we were missing last Monday,it would release Robbo to RWB and perhaps more importantly Mansell to midfield. Tactically we need to be a bit more switched on for this one just as we were against Walsall when we seemed to recognise the threat and tended to contain then attack rather than just swarm forward at every opportunity. A bit of "Light and Shade" is needed they will have better players than Oxford who beat us on Monday. Maybe this is the match to play our successful away tactics as our home ones are sure to fail again. One thing that has always impressed me about Buckles management and that is his ability to manage injuries so well with such a small squad.

Hi all, I just thought I would post this for your enjoyment, Its the song that used to be played at about 5 minutes to kick off on match days, Robert Myles "Children" it was a massive dance hit back in 95 and remains a superb piece of atmospheric music.
I'm not sure when Pete Wiley started playing this but I'm pretty sure it was a staple of match days for a good ten years or so, sadly it fell out of favor during the BSP years and now is only played if ever ... when the gates open at 2-15
Surely it should be brought back to its rightful place .. its certainly a lot better than the Sham 69 song that just sounds even worse through our PA system

Use them for the goal celebration music! And what's the football link with how they got their name? No Googling. Must admit Children doesn't sound quite right in the empty shell of the Popular Side at 2.15. Any volunteers to take over as the new announcer? Dave? Meanwhile another selection from Sham '69's greatest:

Hi Barton Downs, Not saying there's anything wrong with Sham 69 ... Although I was always a Stiff Little Fingers man myself .... I just don't think the tired PA does it justice Whats with the Barton Downs name BTW ? I spent my formative years on Lichfield Ave and Barton Downs was out side my bedroom window and had many happy years playing out there, and watchin Hele Rovers et all on the three pitches back in the day. Happy Days Ah... I have no idea about the Sham 69 link to a footie club ... I probably did long ago but have forgotten since

Didn't Sham69 get their name from some graffiti in Walton and Hersham station urinary? The only thing that was left in-erased by urine from the original 'Hersham 69' was the last 4 letters and the two numbers. I think that's it - do I win five pounds?!
