I thought that I would get this thread up nice and early as once again we go into the last league game with it all to play for! It's Deja Vu time again and like two years ago, a win is needed to confirm a play off place but frustratingly, we may already have enough points although as mentioned in another thread, the lowest points total in recent years to make the play offs is 69 so probably at least a draw will be required!
Rotherham have surprisingly dropped out of the reckoning for the play offs but their recent record of seven games without a win and no wins in six at home (going back to Feb 15 for their last home win against Accrington) indicates why they are where they are. They did look a decent strong side at Plainmoor with Taylor scoring but Le Fondre will be the other main threat. It will be interesting to see how they and the home crowd will react now that they will spend another season in this league.
Watching Alan Hanson on MoTD he did comment that with Drogba on the right wing, playing a centre forward there just does not work! Anyway, I digress, no doubt Buckle will retain an attacking line up in a match we will be looking to win. Zebs and Tomlin will probably start up front and I would like to see Kee on the bench as he has come on and scored some good goals late on in matches. Eunan, has played well on the right and certainly is mobile enough there. I have been impressed with Lathrope recently and I think him and Oastler will form a robust partnership in the centre there with Stanley now back at Morecambe.
This is going to be a nail biter with the Stevenage and Gillingham results possibly coming into play and after what happened in 2005, I don't think any Torquay fan will be counting their chickens. However, it is in our own hands and not only are we in it, but we do have a head start.

i couldnt name one gulls fan who didnt think it would come down to the last game in deciding our fate in the short term.We never do it any other way, complacency is our enemy for this game, although stevenage and gillingham have tough games, its not inconcievable that they both could get a result in their respective games. We cannot go there defending for a draw, firstly as it may not be enough and secondly playing for a draw is a dangerous game.We are more dangerous in attack mode, which i think PB will deploy.Rotherham have nothing to play for but pride and new contracts, and as long as we play to our potential and keep our concentration we will almost certainly make the play - offs, something most of us would of taken 8 months ago.We have seen this scenario all before,so nothing new there,90 minutes of pure concentration should be enough to prolong our season a little longer and keep the dream of playing at old trafford alive

If you have a look back through the early part of pre-season and read the expectations of the general population of Gulls fans then you will see that we have massively over achieved by getting anywhere near the play-offs, as Bucks says " we really have no right being where we are", well done that man and all the players and staff!

I'm going to this one too. If we play as we have been doing we should be fine...just! I'm going for another draw...2:2! LeFondre X2 and Branston X2! If only Branston had been going up for set-pieces from the start of the season instead of the last dozen games or so. I think he hits the bar or post most games now, so a brace on Saturday is not beyond him!

another of the picklers ex clubs, and recent form from him suggests scoring on his return there is certainly not out of the question, bit of a cult figure there too,so a welcoming return for him as well

Cant go but went last year and beware a shite view miles behind the goal and £18 for your troubles.
A couple of smallish pubs around the stadium but a bar underneath the stand though.
Should be interesting on the trains with all those greeks going the same way!!!!

for folks who get up here early enough for drinks in town/staying on after the game the good ale houses in town are The Sheffield Tap (at the station, 7 or so real ales plus big range of lagers and continental beers), The Red Deer (ok food, very good beer, again 6 or 7 real ales), The Devonshire Cat (10 real ales, 100s of bottled beers (I'm not kidding) and excellent food) (surely given the name of this one this has to be the best for TUFC fans!). Easiest way to the ground from the station and/or town is on the tram - if you take it from the station you'll need to get either the purple line or get the blue one stop in to town and change to the yellow tram going out to Meadowhall.
hope to see a good number of you up in Sheffield!

What is the parking like?? Is there a car park at the ground or possible parking in the streets surrounding the ground?? Or park near the town and catch a tram in??

What is the parking like?? Is there a car park at the ground or possible parking in the streets surrounding the ground?? Or park near the town and catch a tram in?? Went there with friends to see Wolves in the League Cup a couple of seasons ago. Parking in the industrial estate on the NW side of Attercliffe Road (Clay Street, Brompton Road, etc) was easy enough but we then made the silly mistake of heading home along the A6178 to Junction 34. That's not wise because that's the direction of Rotherham where most people are heading!! In that sense think twice about the exit route - either the A630 to J33 (which may still carry Rotherham traffic) or the A57 to J31. Tram from Sheffield city centre certainly has its merits. From memory I think it's largely an off-road dedicated track which isn't subject to traffic hold ups like the section near Hillsborough. Mind you, my knowledge of Sheffiled is probably based upon a time nearer that of the old trams rather than the present ones....

Train fares are £52 in first or £48 in standard from London St Pancras. I think I will drive instead. If anyone's interested in sharing petrol costs please PM me.
