Very Lucky with 68 points. Hopefully, lessons have been learnt.

Poor pitch and poor performance but that point against Chesterfield last week was enough to put us in the play offs for the third time in four years! Even by Torquay's standards, that was nerve racking but for once other results went our way when we really needed them!

As predicted Buckle has the luck of old nick - pairing Oastler and Lathrope (who by the soumd of it were absolutely useless) in the centre of midfield was a recipe for disaster. Lets hope Buckle has learnt his lesson as we have fluked ourselves into the play offs.
Mind you with a bench comprising Macklin,Stevens,Halpin and Rowe-Turner you have got to wonder why we are in the play offs in any case.
We have in reality little chance against Shrewsbury but I would not put it past Buckle to fluke a result - on a big pitch you would have to fancy us against Accrington/Stevenage.
In reality though we are not going any futher.

yes - strange, one sided ground - yes not our best perormance - but good support, and choice of beers in Sheffield!
It's where you rest after 46 games that counts; nothing else.
This game was always a banana skin...
positives - we've broken our non- scring run... we've got the 'unbeaten' monkey off our back; shrews maybe gutted re missing auto <clutching straws?>
good to see wigstongull - Longeaton, hope family reunion was good!!

Nice to see that our goal came in off the post today but with over 30 strikes on the old woodwork wouldn't really describe it as a lucky season. The table doesn't lie and add in that deducted point and we were the sixth best team in this league. However, the play offs are a bit of a lottery and I'ld rather have a lucky manager than a good one at the helm. ;D
Meerkat, our form against Shrewsbury is good, I know we have now lost Stanley and Murray but we have still got a higher chance than your perception!

We find ourselves in the Play Offs on the back of a great season .. on limited resources ... not by flukes We beat promoted Bury (away 1-2) .... and Shrewsbury 5-0 a couple of months ago and as for the bench ...... 16 Potter, 02 Rowe-Turner, 04 Ellis, 17 Halpin, 19 Stevens, 08 Kee, 14 Macklin You seem to neglect the decent players we have sat on the bench Potter,Ellis,Stevens and Kee are damn good pros . Some people's Silver Linings .......always have a cloud ! Roll On 17-45 next Saturday Last hurrah for the Grandstand ..... and extra dosh for the club .... It's all good ..... Peace  |

meerkat,wow what a statement,so over 46 games we have fluked our way into the play offs,how have we done that,we are there on our merit,and we deserve to be there,and why shouldnt we go any further,we have just as much a chance of progressing as the other teams,shrews wont be looking forward to playing us,and IF we make to the final and meet acc stanley,they hold no fear to us,so a big well done to bucks to get us this far,i for one am a very proud gull tonight......simon
