Amazing to think that just two years ago this was a BSP fixture and now one of us are going to be in league 1 next season! Stevenage of course lost to Cambridge courtesy of a late Rendell goal in the semi's before going on to win the BSP the following year! Stevenage are a big strong side and will be hard to break down as Accrington found out and we didn't score against them away or indeed until the second half at Plainmoor. However, once Danny scored what might have been the goal of the season in front of the home fans, we did comprehensibly outplay them and I'm sure some decent football on a decent surface could see us on the way to winning this one. Our history against Stevenage is good with 4 wins and 2 draws (both 0-0 at Broadhall) and hopefully that sequence can continue for at least one more game. To be honest, I can't see Buckle changing the line up that got us through against Shrewsbury barring injury. Danny did have a decent second half against Stevenage and may be in line to get some pitch time in the second half running against their defenders. It is going to be another tense build up to Saturday but to watch our team play at Old Trafford is an opportunity that doesn't come along too often (despite it being almost twice this season ;D ) and will be a fitting end to what has been an excellent season of football! really looking forward to this one,but well aware its all on the day.We have an excellent record against them, and some well documented history from 96.As has been stated they are a big strong tough tackling side. But if we have our crisp flowing football heads on we have a great chance of doing this, along with lady luck for good measure. The reaction after the shrewsbury game tells me we will be up for this one.One nagging worry, they have never beaten us,one day they will,i hope its not this saturday

That would be my assumption as well. Was it against Stevenage that we had "Penaltygate" and Zebs missed from the spot? I know we beat them 2-0 and I think we could have won by more. It will be a different story on Saturday - let's not forget how they beat Newcastle a few months back.
The only thing that matters on Saturday is the result. I don't care how prety our play is (although we need to be at our best!), it's all about holding our nerve and grinding the result out. It's going to be a great pitch and that is great for our players, we need to play our game in the same way that we have before against Shrewsbury.
Losing-out to Exeter in the play-offs was probably the biggest lesson that Bucks has learned as a fledgling manager. Since then we have had so many big "one-offs" and perhaps only the Crawley match is an example where the approach has been wrong and the team has been out-thought, overall I think that is a pretty good record.
Westley is a similar "character" to Evans in their approach to football. Expect every single dirty trick in the book and a physical team that pushes past the boundaries of the average club. Still, it's got them where they are today and if we don't recognise that is how they play then they we will come a cropper.
I hope that we have strong officials who can spot diving, timewasting, off-the ball fouling and will not bow to the pressure that will be put on them by Westley & Co.

To be honest, I can't see Buckle changing the line up that got us through against Shrewsbury barring injury. To be honest Rob I WOULD expect a change. Stevenage's game revolves around Darius Charles and I don't believe the midfield we started with against Shrewsbury is strong enough to contain him. If we want to win the midfield battle then we need to stop him. I believe that Oastler should come in and join Lathrope in the centre, with O'kane moving out wide and Kee dropping to the bench. This move wouldn't take anything away from our attacking game, if anything I think it would increase it. Also Kee is not and never will be a winger, his best role is as a back up striker to come on when/if we need to change things around. That is the only change I could see happening though as the rest of the team are all playing well.

I agree with you to a point Rich but my mind changed after the showing at Rotherham which was not good and isn't that the same side? But then you were there and I wasn't! I don't like Kee on the wing but Bucks likes his four strikers and it worked against Shrewsbury. Would loved to have seen Stanley there really but hey ho...

Stevenage were absolutely demolished in the second half at Plainmoor. It was a 2-0 trouncing as they were completely outplayed. On a bigger pitch you would seriously have to fancy us. They are not a better side than Shrewsbury and we made them look ordinary. if we get a decent ref,no injuries on the day,and we turn up we have surely got every chance.

That is probably going to be a telling point. A good experienced ref that allows play to flow but still spots the sneaky fouls, yet is not afraid to clamp down on "stopping tactics" would be great. Fingers crossed...

Surely they have to give us a decent ref for this game. The one who was in charge of the home leg against Shrewsbury would be fine! It seems that all Stevenage have going for them is that they're a cheating load of bastards! I'm confident of an easy win here...........4:0 to us!

He was absolutely spineless against Crawley - a team that are very similar in their approach to Stevenage. God help us.

Lost for words! I know they have to dangle the carrot of a "big game" and promotion up the list, but surely appointing someone that has made the "select" list would be more of an example to hold up?
