Sorry Chris, cannot add anything after that wonderful epic you wrote yesterday which is almost word perfect - if your surname was Lane we'd have to call you Memory. It was indeed a mammoth feast and whilst the bill was a little high it must be remembered that we had pomps and spinnys, 3 starters, 3 mains, 2 rice, 2 naans, 2 vegetable sides along with a plentiful supply of Tiger Beer, 2 coffees and a liquor coffee. I did enjoy my left overs for my Sunday lunch! You must thank young Nige for the lift up and back - much appreciated. Disappointed that I couldn't get any decent photos and will take a proper camera next time

Disappointed that I couldn't get any decent photos and will take a proper camera next time ........I'll certainly pass that onto Nige, Phil! - Yes, it was exceedingly splendid wasn't it! - I hope we can have another one in the near-ish future, I suspect it may be very near Torquay Town Centre this time if our esteemed and much learned friend Mr_Barton (Da_Prof) can make it (along with the sainted Mr_Jon of course) to enable him to make a late train back etc etc, plenty of likely venues around the Harbour/Abbey Road/Belgrave Road I am sure of that, for that plan to work................ .........it just remains for me to thank Phil for coming along oh, and there was just ONE thing I didn't mention in the "report" - the list of Mr_Chelstongulls' "lookey-likey tribute acts" is growing still - he was happy to point out that not only does he look more like "Charlie from Casualty" than "Charlie" himself looks these days, but he added the names of "John McEnroe" (I can see that), also the one that does the stupid dance in "The Pet Shop Boys" (I think he means the keyboard player), along with "Brad Pitt" (huh??) and "George Clooney" (double huh??) - he did intimate, quietly in an unguarded moment however, that with huge impending age and loss of his aural senses, he MAY have misheard and it was actually "A bad pit" and "Gorged looney" that was said - I could not possibly comment on that!...............

My dear chap I'm deeply flattered by the invitation although I need to confess that "Prog Rock" (an expression I don't recall hearing in any place other than the Torquay of the 1970s) and the use of water jets to quell civic unrest aren't necessarily my favoured topics of conversation. Perhaps we can thrash out a draft agenda?

Perhaps we can thrash out a draft agenda? ....Ah, hello, my dear Mr_Barton! - "Welcome, My Friend To The Shami That Never Ends" - a thinly disguised Proggy (or possibly Indy - boom tsssssssh) reference only Lord_Tanktop will understand - nuff on that............. ........An amended Draft Agenda for a future TFF-CC meeting is of course no problem at all - as opposed to the general subjects of Beer or Music that is.......... ..........some possible items? - to be added on freely at will as anyone thinks fit?.......... 1. The role of the Right Wing and counter-culture in the Western world in general? - should Danny play out there on the right, or keep him in a supporting role in the hole as it were (doing a job - three stock phrases there - well done me) with the Kee-ster moving across to cover as necessary?............... 2. The Euro currency....... 3. Swedish film noir - 1945-75........ 4. The role of the Police in the State nowadays - Service or Force............... 5. Jazz Club - from "The Fast Show" - nice.............. 6. Mozart - did he rock?........ 7. An in-depth study of Ancient Hebrew and associated texts along with sub-divisions culture-wise and their impact on world history........ 8. Payment by Pie as opposed to Pound? - take forward and discuss.......... 9. Free Mince Pies to all Popsiders at Xmas time - the way ahead?............. 10. Radio 4 - why?................. 11. Sally James, Felicity Kendal, Penny Smith, Kate Silverton and Fiona Bruce - why the bloody hell not?................. 12. Just why DOES it take so bloody, fooking long for the Popside turnstile padlocks to be opened on a Saturday - how hard can it be to just (as far as we know anyway) literally turn 4 keys approximately an eighth of an inch? (clue on the admittedly slight off-chance any turnstile-operator qualified personnel are taking this in - colour code - different coloured sticky-on disc on each key and padlock - it is so sad to see the same faces struggling every week!!)........... ...............all subjects liable to review by "The TFF-CC Agenda Man" when he can............

That’s a mighty agenda Mr_W. I think we can leave matters regarding Ancient Hebrew to another popsider who, in his current absence, shall remain nameless. The pie – as opposed to the pound – could be considered as an extension to the Totnes “transition town” concept (as enthusiastically advocated by Nick Crane on the BBC last week). Radio 4 – I approve – but Radio 4 Extra? Mind you, for me the BBC World Service has the nod (and hasn’t local radio – including Radio Devon – gone to the dogs?). Wing wise, I prefer the left flank myself although I’d give Lloyd another opportunity down the right. Mozart was indeed a rocker but – patriotic guff or not – old Elgar was a decent playmaker. Swedish film noir – of which I know little – sounds rather intensely Scandinavian for my liking conjuring up thoughts of a scarcity of daylight, angst and expensive alcohol morosely consumed in Uppsala (but at least they broke out to host a happy World Cup in 1958).
Ah but we must stop before we run out of things to discuss. But, before I go, I must ask at what time are you attempting to access the popular side on a Saturday? And do you too, as an early arrival, grow slightly tired of the same public address script each week? A touch of variety might not go amiss. Perhaps a spoken lecture by yourself on the cultural milieu of our opponent’s community would be appropriate? Certainly innovative....(and one for those clever grammar school bastards).
Felicity Kendall, giving out mince pies on Boxing Day, could be one of your better ideas.

My appetite for curry was whetted as I cycled through Ilford Lane on the way back from the Dagenham on Saturday. Just a couple or so miles from Dagenham's gound, Ilford Lane has a large range of shops selling everything from designer sunglasses, electrical goods and saaris to food shops with impressive displays of Asian fruit and vegtables. I had planned to have a look around, but it started to rain and I needed to get back. Went for a curry at Chutneys in Drummond Street, near Euston station Sunday lunchtime. I didn't get any pictures, but the place was packed and the range of the buffet very impressive indeed, especially for £6.90 all you can eat. Chutneys, like most of the Indian restaurants on Drummond Street, is a vegetarian bhel poori house. It is always interesting to see how tasty and varied Indian cooking can be without having to use meat - Totnes-based lentil and carrot stew makers take note! www.chutneyseuston.co.uk/menu.html

"Miss You Nights" by Cliff Richard Oh dear! My enjoyment of that write up came to a juddering halt right there. Your reputation is in tatters Mr_W. It's a good job that Chelston tends to turn his hearing aid off to save on the batteries, or I think he would have taken his zimmer frame and walked out there and then.

It's a good job that Chelston tends to turn his hearing aid off to save on the batteries, or I think he would have taken his zimmer frame and walked out there and then. .......Oh, dear? - more like how VERY, VERY oh dear - no names, no pack drills, Jon (great to see you back on here btw, good hols, I trust?) but it would APPEAR anyway that The_ Baron_of_the_Bongos' trusty young sidekick has been busted again and their rather tragic, grubby fondness for a certain, wistful 1976 tune has surfaced once more (rats!)........ ............some may possibly say this COULD be akin to the admittance (under much Tiger beer torture to be fair) of a disturbing penchant for the viewing of the rather unedifying, late-night spectacle on obscure satellite TV channels of extremely large, sweaty, bearded, pony-tailed, "Willie Brown gringo 'tache n sideys"-adorned and facemask-sporting Mexican men clad in spangly, sequinned leotards and boots, and going under the names of suchlike as "El Mariachi", "Johnny Ringo", "The Tequila Slammer" and "The Cactus Crusher" indulging in throwing each other around a ring whilst grunting heartily along to the sounds of "Speedy Gonzales" by Pat Bhuna, and possibly "The Mexican Whistler" by Roger Whit-takeawayer - should be bleddy shot, the lot of 'em, I say - the nation SHOULD be told soonest........... .....A-One-errrrrrrr, A-Two-errrrrrrr.......... .........just as well the afore-mentioned classic, old-age, selective aural levels tactic that never fails, along with forgetting to bring his ear-trumpet along on the night negated Lord_Tanktop from hearing the comment regarding TUFC still seeking a "male model" of advanced years to sport their latest "Retro" range of yellow and blue matching leg warmers and knee-bands................. - Whats' that, you bleddy young scamp you, you're getting 'em in? - Is that what you're saying? - mines' a pint of Cornish Ale, double Oggie and a Cream Tea to finish - eh, who said that? - Pardon?.................. - come on ya young skins you - I'll race you all down to the Haywain, winner gets a can of Party Seven, 2nd my spare copy of the classic Baker-Gurvitz Army second album from 1975 - "Elysian Encounter" - quality, mate - and 3rd a selection of Findus Crispy Pancakes - ermmm, yummy - I'll wear these bad boys - AND I'll use my bath-chair - on the sound of the famous organ solo from "Tarkus", come on kids, lets' rock - Runaround - G-g-g-g-g-g-g-o-o-o-o-o........ - 1st Prize..... s.dsimg.com/image/R-150-2237736-1288216313.gif [/img] - 2nd Prize..... - 3rd Prize..... .......on a serious note, all members of The TFF Curry Club, possibly apres-game on Sats 19 Nov or 10 Dec for Operation Vindaloo - the reprise - maybe Phil, Jon or Barty would like to choose venue? - plenty of notice there - Nige n' me can make it...............
