Beat me to it Chris. A run of poor performances costing us goals which may have (or may not have, depending on your view) cost us points, culminating with the "schoolboy" comment from GB? You seem to conviently forget when Mark won man-of-the-match three times in a row and got dropped! As for the reasons, it had something to do with Buckle and his pecker and several of the players wives or relatives! As far as seeing players in training, well what can I say, why do players get match time when the are on trial, your theory would suggest that they only need to turn up for training for the manager to see what they play like! Now that I don`t get at all! Buckle loving WAGS eh? No wonder our form slumped, team moral in tatters and we missed out on the play offs then.

Well if Ellis had played perhaps we might have made the play offs.

Still some rumblings from the official site as to how we weren't good enough from Ling. It will be interesting to see as to how he deals with it and if changes are to be made for this weekend.

I wouldn't think there is a need for wholesale changes as most teams in the bottom division won't be good enough against Crawley Town this season. A little bit of tinkering as Ling gets his first look at the players in a competitive arena and as the players get used to each other in various roles, but overall there is more to be encouraged about than some posters would have you believe.

Ling has organised a friendly against Yeovil today to have another look at some of the players not making the starting line up and possibly ensure they are match fit if he picks them for Saturday.

I don’t think I was ever expecting to log onto the TFF after this match and read about how great we played and what a great win it was over Crawley. The game had a Crawley win written all over it as soon as the fixture list came out.
Yes it would have been so good to have at last beaten Crawley and even more so after they knocked us out of the FA cup and got the draw of a lifetime for most Torquay United fans away to Manchester United. For me losing that FA cup game and along with the one fixture I dreamed about since the day I first ever went to watch Torquay United play when I was ten years old, hurt far more than when we got relegated out of the football league.
Maybe that season we did lose our league status had an air on inevitability about it having Roberts here at the time, but as soon as I knew who was talking over the club once Roberts had been moved on, I always felt it would not be too long before we regained our league status.
Yes losing it after being in the league for 80 odd years hurt, even more so for me as Yeovil a place where I talk football twice a week went the other way, but missing out the chance to watch our boys walk out onto the pitch at Old Trafford hurt just that bit more. Only because as far as I’m concerned it was something that was only ever going to happen once in my lifetime, I may get lucky and such a draw comes up again, but I would never put any money on that happening.
So you would think beating Crawley would for me be the most must win game of the season, but sorry it was not. as Beating Bristol Rovers in what was their first home of the season is a victory that would have outshined any victory over Crawley for me.
With the money Crawley got from that cup tie against Manchester United and other money going into that was called? Well I won’t say what a Brighton fan I talked to today up in Torrington called it just in case I say something that might get me or the TFF into trouble, but I knew the team they were going to be able to put out, was always going to be far better than we would have been able to have.
We did well to come back and get a draw in our opening game of the season, did so well to beat Bristol Rovers, got lucky up at Aldershot and then lost a game we really were never likely to win. I’ll take that as a good start to the season seeing Buckle ripped the heart out our team and our new manager had to bring in a number of players with no real money to play with.
Its early days and I believe we won’t have to worry this season about being near the bottom of the table come the end of the season. Don’t think we will be good enough to go up mind you, but then I never expected us to end up in a play-off final last season.

lingy is gradually winning us fans over with his honest open attitude, how many managers slate their team after winning an away game?not many but he did after aldershot, the nicest thing about it of course was it was true by all accounts.PB wouldnt even go there, even when losing under PB,he would say we were unlucky, proud of the players they gave it their all etc etc,but us fans quite often wouldnt agree with his match assessment. With lingy it seems that already he calls a spade a spade, suits me fine, and at least the players know as well, you dont do the business you aint playing, even if we are friends, all makes for a happy camp. And an interesting season

Sounds like Halpin had a good game Yep, just read the comments on dot com bearing in mind the match was held behind closed doors! He created and scored the penalty in the first half and apparently Macklin was a threat in the second. Ellis and LRT got special mention as well, both at centre half. By a strange coincidence, the very positions that have been "discussed" the most by fans!

tbh atm i think sorting out the midfield and attacking options is just as pressing as the defence.
