After our first setback this season, the team are on the road to recently relegated Dagenham to try and get things back on track again. This was the scene of our first away match back in the league two years ago and although it was an entertaining eight goal thriller with a fantastic individual goal from Carayol remaining vivid in the memory, it also gave a hint of how we would struggle in the coming months......
Dagenham have made a good start with three tight 1-0 wins over Bradford, Swindon and Macclesfield but a 2-0 loss to new boys AFC Wimbledon! They also lost 5-0 to Bournmouth in the league cup. So not too many goals have been scored with the familiar strike force of Jon Nurse (scoring his first last time out) and Gavin Tomlin (Yet to score.) I think Tomlin did a good job for us last year and I would have him back although he is not a prolific goal scorer and maybe his value is more in opening up play to his team mates. However, nice to see him back playing regular football after slipping to fourth choice last year although I assume that Dagenham lost a striker or two since their relegation. Personally, I am just glad that Benson does not feature for them still!
As for Torquay, I don't think that Ling will panic and change things too much for this match and maybe more changes will be made for the JPT next Tuesday. If any changes are made then maybe look to the right wing where either, Stevens, Macklin or even O'Kane could be considered. We have won both our previous away matches in the league although the Aldershot game was fortunate but a 4-4-2 formation will probably be used again.

looking forward to going to this game, but not the child prices, they want 15 quid for kids,my eldest is 10 but still 15 quid, very very steep indeed, and out of touch pricing.Have promised the kids this trip, wish i hadnt.Wont let it spoil the day though,a tough place to get a result and they have started the season well,it will be interesting to see how we react post crawley, sneaky feeling this could end up a draw of some sorts

Also seems to be £22 for a seat.
Their new stand behind the goal seems smart, but £22 is very expensive.

It’s a bit hard to know what to expect from this game and as I have not seen a first team league fixture myself so far this season, can only base my views on the match reports I have read on the TFF.
I might well be wrong, but this is how things have sounded to me so far this season. In our first game of the season we showed a good deal of sprit to come back from two goals down and get a draw. We stunned Rovers in our second game by scoring two fist half goals, but then were maybe lucky to hold on and come away from there with all three points.
We certainly were very lucky to win at Aldershot and were also very lucky not to get beaten by a cricket score at home last week against Crawley, so for me there are question marks about just how good a team we do have this season.
I have read on here how we are playing at times some very good football and it has sounded the sort of football I like to watch and talked about on here before, its what I say is playing football the way the game is meant to be played. It is the sort of football that Buckland play and they do so well at it, but then the do have in my view, some of the very best players playing at that level.
As a football lover it is the sort of football I want to watch, but then if it does not win games and winning is the name of the game I’m afraid, or the players are not just good enough to play that way, then its all about playing the game anyway that can secure a win.
Such football might not be pleasing on the eye and not something people might want to pay to watch, but we all know the end result of not putting enough points on the board by the time the end of the season comes around.
Due to a second major reduction in my household income in four months, it’s now very unlikely I will be able to afford to go to Plainmoor this season, so I will have to follow the progress of our team on here and hope we can keep getting good quality match reports.
If it stays dry this afternoon then I’m going to watch Galmpton play Crediton and then on Monday go and watch Buckland at Homers Heath. I will have to wait until I get home to learn how we got on today, but I just feel we will be very lucky to even come away with a draw.
But this is football and anything can happen as we know and so here’s hoping we get all three points and a pleasing performance from our players that will keep all our travelling fans happy.

Looking forward to this, and hoping our excellent away form can continue.
I'll be cycling out to this, as the prospect of spending nearly two hours on a tube or fannying around with trains and buses appeals about as much as as meal of brown rice and beans does to a hungry, homesick Billy Kee.

Rode our luck in every game so far as you say Dave so not overly optimistic about this one. Need to be tighter at the back, more competetive in the middle of the park and more threatening up top. Not a lot to ask! Oh, and a warm welcome back to the forum...

Well Dave with you and me not going I am concerned that we will soon be playing in front of 1500 especially if we don't pick up some results. I see this as a pretty big game really and a decent marker. If we get a win today we can write off the last two peformances. However another comprehensive defeat and looking at our squad I think it will be fair to say there will be some pretty big alarm bells going off. I do enjoy Lings after match interviews as they are a refreshing change from the absolute drivel spouted by Buckle but i am not sure what he will say if we don't turn in a peformance today. Like you I am off to a local game this afternoon.

I't's terrace banter about an opposition player, Aus. Nothing more. If he or anyone else is offended or upset about that then I offer these delicate souls my heartfelt apologies and expressions of sympathy

Did you know that the players refer to negative posters as `haters`?
