I believe the preferred term may be "The Gullette's"
Anyway, figured I'd do a post about the ladies on here, because I'm sure we could all do with a boost of morale!!
Our team have been together since the start of this years season (August 25th), and already we're at the top of the league with some really impressive football being showcased. I suppose a good starting point would be a run down of the team... You'll have to bear with me in parts - Whilst I go to all the games, the women's team isn't as "fixed" as the men's - they're all very committed, but sometimes the team changes on the basis the girls have work, can't make it due to childcare etc.
Nevertheless, here goes:
1) Beth Marshall (Our brilliant Goalkeeper)
2) Ali Hill (Defender)
3) Randi Cutmore (Defender, American, tall, and ridiculously good)
4) Jazz Hervin (THIS girl is amazing, coaches, plays and is only 19 years old - she won awards the other day for all of her coaching)
6) Charlie Mailing (Defender, Doubles up as goalkeeper, and the nose breaker of opposing teams)
7) Lousia Stentiford-Crook (Midfield, Some of the balls this girl plays!!)
8) Vicki Hockley (Midfield, Team Captain - and Matt Hockley's wife)
9) Haley Chamberlain (Midfield, If you like Volley's, this is your girl)
10) Laura Gough (Striker, Top Scorer for the team)
14) Adele Rogers (Defender, Little speed machine, really good player)
17) Anna Finnemore (Winger / Striker)
18) Joey Fawke (Winger / Striker)
20) Sian Chapman (Striker, Hard as nails - broke her nose and still carried on playing)
23) Laura Baker (Winger, Excellent Corners)
25) Sarah Chase (Winger)
For the life in me, I can't remember the numbers of these girls - but that in no way means they aren't outstanding players.
Emily Hannahford
Natasha Parker
Nadine Labajo
Jess Armstrong
Thought popping a link here to show you how they play might be a good idea:
There are plenty on you tube, just type "TULFC" into the search bar and have a gander
It very much looks like our ladies will be getting promoted this season - with a 100% win record for all league matches played so far. We're away to Bude on Sunday - I appreciate this might not be near any of you, but if it is, you really should come and support the girls - it's nice to see a Torquay side winning for once
I'm not amazing with stats and such like, so here's a link to the table to see for yourselves (and to prove I'm not just bigging up the women to prove we're the fairer sex hehehe) full-time.thefa.com/ProcessPublicSelect.do?psSelectedSeason=63902457&psSelectedDivision=251490220&psSelectedCompetition=0&psSelectedLeague=49427966
As you can see - we're doing brilliantly considering the girls have only been together since August.
We played Exeter a few weeks back in a cup match - the girls didn't win, but played really really well, against a team 2 or 3 divisions above us - we looked comfortable on the ball and in our element. There really wasn't a massive amount of difference in the level of skill and football played, which is incredibly inspiring.
The team is managed by a really nice guy called Keyvn Dixon, assistant Manager is Vanessa, and not to forget Ant the coach for the ladies.
I think I've rambled on for a little bit now.... If there's anything I've missed out, lemme know!
