here we go for our third game in seven games, after losing the first two, we really need to get three points from this game.
I would hope we start with the same side that started on Monday, its not going to be an easy game, but we can only hope.

Apparently Ellis had a very good game so, although he is young and makes mistakes, it would be nice to see him play again. I would like to see the same eleven start unless Todd recovers, in which case, I would like Todd with Woods or Ellis. Im worried, as many are, about Right back though, If Mansell is back in the midfield then who plays there? I cant see Robertson, a natural centre half, who is not very good on the ball, becoming our no 1 right back. Perhaps Thompson? ?

Mansell has to revert to right back. He's the only one with any success there! Like to see Adams given a run in midfield....................won't happen of course!

I'd imagine if Thompson hadn't been sent-off against Crawley it would have been him in centre midfield and Mansell at right-back, or vice-versa, against Salisbury.

If any changes are to be made then would go for the above. Hopefully the team will get back to winnning ways tonight allowing some stability in the team selection after the necessary changes during the last few games.

Assuming Todd is unfit, I'd go with the following:-
Poke
Mansell Woods Ellis Hodges
Carlisle Wroe (against his old club) Adams Carayol
Sills Dsane
Subs: Hargreaves, Nicholson, Green, Benyon, Robertson

I'm afraid that midfield looks too lightweight to me and would stand every chance of getting overrun like previous games, Rob. I think the improved performance against Salisbury proved that we need to win the physical battle first with players like Mansell and Hargreaves getting well stuck in and winning balls in midfield. Maybe later in the game we could afford the luxury of Adams OR Wroe to try and find the killer pass.

I take your point, swangull. The only one likely to fit the bill is Hargreaves for me, as Mansell is a better right back than Robertson and Thompson's still out. Some might suggest that the Herald article today suggests a likely 5-0-5 formation depending on the direction of the wind. I personally didn't read the article in quite the same way as others whose interpretation I've read.. www.thisissouthdevon.co.uk/gulls/Gulls-going-future/article-293805-detail/article.htmlPretty sideways passing is not something this group look likely to do presently. Maybe a more patient and clinical build-up will come in time/maybe not. Direct and on the front foot, whilst basic, is not necessarily that dreaded word - hoof.

Can you beggar belief..................one shot all night and York get out of gaol..................just as Salisbury did on Monday. Steve Woods, 32 years old; years in the game and STILL making the ruddy basic goal costing errors he always has. If I was his manager I'd pull his ruddy balls off for getting so stupidly tight to lose that first header that left Sodge in position to hole out like that. That's what you expect from raw youngsters like Ellis, not the club's most experienced player who showed just why he's been involved in two relegations for us. What does he want to get that tight for in no man's land with a few minutes to go? I thought if anything tonight we tended to over pass the ball probably down to the pressure the players feel in the current climate, and our goal from Stevens probably came about because York hadn't sorted out who was to pick him up and he finished with a good bit of class.....................good job really as we never saw him for the rest of the game! Hey come on, at least we're playing constructively giving the lie to all that "hoof ball" whingeing on here but let's be under no illusions; a win is desperately needed indeed imperative for the manager, for the players' confidence and for the comfort of the board who must be shifting uneasily in their seats the longer the unsuccessful run goes on and the bright yellow seats become more empty. I thought defensively we looked great and all credit to Ellis and Robertson who have slotted into the side seamlessly whilst I thought the other players who stood out for different reasons were Dsane and Carayol..............credit to them for sticking at it and never hiding but boy do they both need the confidence boost of a goal!
