Would expect another tough game tonight - they've yet to give us anything else in our meetings with them.
Possibly a few more legs given a rest too (i can't imagine Manse is the only one to get tired)...
Manse back into the defence, Robbo shifted into the position he's most comfortable, Hodges moved across to show exactly how versatile he is. Nicho and Greavsie given some time out, with Carayol down the right and Carlisle given a go on the left...
---------------------Bevan Manse------Robbo-----Todd-----Hodges Carayol---Thompson---Wroe----Carlisle ---------------Benyon---Sills
On the bench: Ellis, Nicho, Greavsie, Green, Dsane
A narrow victory would be most agreeable. 2-1, Benners and Wroe.

That's the side I would like to see as well Fonda. Give Greavsie and Nicho the night off and I would feel we should be in good shape to tackle the more difficult remaining games.
Hopefully, there are going to be quite a few really intense matches in the next couple of months and we will need our big game players on top form.

Don't fall into this trap of taking a glance at the league table and making assumptions. Grays are capable of playing prolonged possession football, passing the ball to feet and moving off the ball extremely well. Many of their players have begun their careers at the academies of decent clubs and play under a coach who will encourage them to play in that style. They will relish our excellent playing surface. They are fighting for their club's very life and thus their careers, a decent ball winner will be essential in this game as they probably won't be surrendering possession that much by playing it early or long; so to omit Greavsie tonight would be extremely risky in my opinion., as would leaving out Nicholson, the provider of most of our goals from re-starts...............this is just the sort of side that this type of goal might be the only chances created. Remember too, all three of our goals on Saturday came from re-starts; I cannot emphasize enough how important this facet is in BSP football. Maybe a night for patience and waiting for the game to "stretch" in the later stages as indeed it did at Grays the other week.

I'm certainly not underestimating them in the slightest (i realise it wasn't me you quoted but thought i'd explain my reasoning), but i wouldn't see the omission of Nicho and Greavsie as significantly weakening the side. I was reminded only a couple of days ago that Hodges is a versatile performer, and only last season was playing at a much higher level than this. His delivery with his left foot can't be much worse than Nicho's surely? And Thompson should be more than capable of filling in for Greavsie - sitting in midfield and breaking up the Grays attacks. His energy levels are excellent, and he clearly relishes 'getting amongst' the opposition - as evidenced against Barrow a couple of weeks ago. He performed the role, when captain of another half-decent BSP team last season. If Greavsie is to last the full course this season, he'll need a break at some stage.

I take your point about Nicho, especially against a team who are unlikely to open themselves up unless we make a breakthrough.
But I do feel that Hargreaves in particular would benefit from a night off ahead of the huge games we have coming up. Reading his blog he seems to take a real battering in most games and we will need him at his freshest for the battles to come.
Ideally, I would replace him with Mansell in the middle as his game is the closest match we have, but having read that Grays are strong down the flanks I'm not sure I would want to risk Robbo out there.

Merse,
Who did Tony Dinning used to play for? I've heard his name before and I'm sure he used to play a good standard of football - or have I drunk too much vino?
