After our win away to Northwich we need to carry on with our winning run and keep alive our hopes of not only catching Burton, but over taking them and trying to go up as champions, its all there still to play for.
Someone said to me that Mansell was dropped due to his reaction to a recent event, not sure if that is true but its clear he is the best player we have to play in the right back spot. Robertson is much more happy in the middle of the defense.
Todd made the odd mistakes in his return game for us, but we all know what he brings and the extra threat he adds when he is in the opponents box, so as long as he feels fine I'm sure we will get to see him play at home for such a long time.
Does Bucks start with Hodges beside him again? or will he go with Robertson or even Ellis, Mark should be on the bench at the very least as far as I'm concerned.
Interesting when Dsane can on that Carlisle stayed on the left hand side with Dsane replacing Stevens on the right, will Carlisle hold on to the left spot or will we see Dsane claim it back.
I would hope we start with Sills and Benyon or Green, I don't mind which one partners Sills as I feel they both have a lot to offer the team when they are on the pitch.
Grays will be coming here looking to get something out of the game, so once again we will need to see plenty of effort from the team, I believe we will win the game, we will need to score a few goals I fear as we were not so solid at the back against Northwich as we should have be.

The competition for places by that many good players is a massive bonus looking at the run in!

It's certainly a bonus to have rested players in contrast to last season. This time last year we still had loads of games to play because of the FAT which lead to Hargreaves, Sills etc being dead on their feet which ultimately lead to the loss of form going into the playoffs.
This year we have rested (intentionally or otherwise) Mansell, Todd, Dsane, Sills (1 game!), Hargreaves, Carlisle, Green and maybe others. We have several options for most positions and are now hitting form going into the playoffs. nothing is certain in this world but we are giving ourselves a better chance this time.
btw has anyone seen Poke?

I think Robertson was played due to his size but I could be very wrong! Not sure Lee m was the happiest bunny warming up with Dsane, Green and Benyon at half-time on Saturday. And yes, where is Poke?

I'm sure Poke went back some time ago and is no longer on loan to us, unless he still is so he can be called in should Bevan get injured, but I'm sure he no longer trains with the team and no longer comes to the ground.

I think Robertson was played due to his size but I could be very wrong! And yes, where is Poke? I'm sure Bucks has taken to taking advantage of the aeriel strength of Robbo when it comes to defending re-starts, would I be right in assuming the Northwich side were a particularly big bunch of lads? Given the percentage of goals scored from such instances and that the ball is invariably in the air it is one of the less appreciated aspects of selection that the layman often overlooks. Also, Todd returns and scores from a re-start..................when last and how often did we get that from Woods? To my mind, Toddy is absolute dynamite to have in the team when attacking corners at the other end and as JMGull stated last week, he isn't afraid to get his head in there unlike the reluctant Woods; hence the difference in goal returns from the two individuals. If you were stood behind the goal amongst some of the numpties who were posting on "another site" last night, it would indeed have done your head in! As I understand it, Poke doesn't travel if he is not to be on the bench; but if he is required of course he is available.

Merse,
And not only is Robbo great in the air he has, in my opinion, a longer throw than Nico (though Nico's is flatter and faster). He's in there for Nico's throws and then he's doing it himself. Is cool on the ball and seems to still be developing his ability. Some one to hold on not let go!!
As for Northwich, their centre-forward made Todd look like a youngster! But Todd handled him magnificently (apart for one of their goals) despite the best (worst) attempts of the ref.
Do you know who the ring-leader of the numpties is? Should try watching the game they've made such an effort to get to rather being so strange!

Dunno mate, not the sort I care to be near, but Romford Kev pointed out that "Alex B" to me who wheedled his way on here as a spokesman for "others", and reckoned his conduct bore all the hallmarks of 18 carat numptiness! ;D I'm off to bed...............

...Its no coincedence that our 3 goals all came from set pieces, with the excellent delivery of Nicholson from either foot or hand....having robbo in the side at Right back instead of Mansell gives us 4 threats in the air.
Sills, Todd, Hargreaves and Robbo must look a formidable sight to opposition defences at set pieces. As big as a couple of the Vics lads were, their isn't many defences that have enough markers big enough or good enough to cope with it.

If an increased aerial threat was considered necessary would perhaps prefer Robertson instead of Hodges as opposed to Mansell... Reckon Dsane and Carlisle have done enough to start on the wings and with 16 goals between them, hard to argue against. (Buckle likes his wingers to score and together these two should more than make up the tally notched up by Zebroski last time out.) Personally would like to see Benyon start with Green waiting in the wings to come on as that impact player. I think Wroe will start with Hargreaves but thinking about previous comments is there a case for using Thompson battling qualities in the first half and bringing Wroe on in the second take advantage of those spaces as the game opens up? No one seems to be talking about us catching up Burton so take one game at the time and leave the pressure of promotion to the other teams.

I was surprised to see Mansell on the bench at the Barrow game. He was a strong contender for POTY so far - I guess if he was carrying a knock or a slight strain it wouldn't be well publicised... If it is a case of a fall-out between player and manager (and I've read nothing to suggest that it is) then there is only ever one winner...... I do agree with the above post by JM - it gives us formidible set-piece option having Robbo in the team.
We seem to have a bigger squad (in terms of numbers) than last year, but more importantly I think that all the players we have are capable of "doing a job" and pushing for a first-team line-up. The same couldn't be said last season - most of the bench-warmers just never showed that they were worth a starting place and there were clear "first choices". Our dismal displays against Rushden, Cambridge and Crawley at the tail-end of last season didn't bode well for the "crunch-time" in the play-offs. IMHO this was partly down to the fact that too many players were reasonably safe in the knowledge that they were vey likely to start and the fringe-players that came-in allowing some players to rest were no-where near up to the standard.
I'm looking forward to what will be another tough game against a team (who got a good win against Mansfield on Saturday) battling for the BSP status that they have worked so hard to achieve. I won't try and predict the line-up - although can't imagine that it would be much different from Saturday, although perhaps Dsane might start ahead of Danny. As RDJ says, the contribution of goals from our wingers has been hugely valuable - especially in the last 3 successive away games! The only prediction that I will make is that Todd will start and will score!
Midlandstufc - I encountered the same idiots away at FGR in the Setanta Shield - a ridiculous display of behaviour and they were lucky not to have been ejected....

Again a must win tomorrow. Especially if you look at the results the other p/o-contenders are getting.
Cambridge: last 11, 8 wins and 3 draws Kidderminster: last 6, 5 wins and 1 draw Stevenage: last 15, 10 wins and 5 draws
That leaves us, Histon and maybe Kettering. We're in the winning mood and Histon are a bit inconsistent at the moment but have games in hand. If Kettering can win their 2 games in hand they'll also join the chasing pack.
