Atheringtongull is spot on describing last night's performance. Gray's number 16, Tommy Black, bossed the game throughout and was head and shoulders above everyone else. D'Sane is an embarrassment everytime he plays. He's lazy, his tackling is half-hearted and when he does tackle he usually gives away a free kick more often than not in our last third where teams seem to hurt us. I thought the effort was there but we were so ineffective. Grays pass and move play sliced us open time and time again. Can't blame Benyon and Green too much they just never got any real service. As has been said there really isn't a Plan B. Does anyone know what our game plan is at Plainmoor ? The ball is simply lumped forward from the back. I think Carlisle actually reads the game well but no-one plays off him, and when Benyon turns his man there's never any support arriving from midfield. Sills wins header after header in games but who's feeding off them ? Surely after 40+ games we should have a rhythm and more fluid shape and be anticipating player movement. To me the problem rests with Buckle. Chopping and changing the team week in and week out simply adds to our problems. How many games in charge now - must be close to 100 ? Grays were the better side last night. They were organised and looked like they knew what they were doing. We didn't.

Cambridge's fans are simply magnificent, inspiring their team with noise, good humour and colour. This is fair comment and exactly the impression I gained from visiting the Abbey at the end of last season. Ditto Aldershot. You could argue that Cambridge's fans have more cause to be sullen: a superior record to us over a 35 year period folllowed by a sudden fall from grace two years before our relegation. Or does it work the other way? Has the long struggle weakened our resolve? In the car last night we discussed the flatness of the evening even without hearing Paul Buckle's radio interview. In our part of the popular side it was one of those evenings when the first whistle blows and the conversations continue. Sometimes I wonder how I'd view Plainmoor as a neutral observer - vibrant and supportive one match; sullen and critical the next. All grounds are like that to an extent but some more than others. And I'm glad people are giving Grays credit. They did well in a game which I felt served to emphasise the sound judgements expressed in one of Jmgull's postings earlier this evening.

Chopping and changing the team week in and week out................. I told you in my pre-match post what to expect from Grays. Tommy Black is just one of those players excellently schooled at an early age at a big club. In his case it was Arsenal (where I am fortunate enough to be able to witness such schooling twice a week at the moment) and although he didn't make more than a couple of First team appearances there he was still highly regarded to the extent that he moved (I think it was between Palace and Wolves) for half a million pounds not that long ago. He is only at the level he is now due to his alcoholism, a battle he has to fight daily for the rest of his life unfortunately; but many fine alcoholics have been world class players ( Paul Gascoigne and Brian Robson spring to mind) and whilst form is temporary, class is permanent. The style of play you highlighted from the Gulls last night usually rears it's ugly head when confidence is low and given the recent events and the much discussed poor atmosphere it's hardly a surprise to see it return. to be fair to the manager and players, some of the constructive, well disciplined and passing build up of the away football this season has been a credit to them and to the BSP. Maybe you should be asking why this metamorphosis into the horribly unattractive stuff you had to watch at Plainmoor last night? As for "chopping and changing", well; having taken flack for not totally utilising the squad last season I guess the manager now take stick for doing just that this season......................."who'd be a manager" eh? Well of Torquay United with OUR crowd at least!

Interesting Merse. I remember Tommy Black - as a substitute, I think - looking red hot against us at Plainmoor a few seasons back for Palace (Carling Cup) on a Tuesday night.
Sounds very much like they were a team that we needed to break up in the middle of the park last night, with the rest following. We move on with a seven game unbeaten run in tact.

Dave, i'm sure it wasn't goal of the season... they just wanted me to think it was as i'd missed it. Bit of the proverbial going on!!

Roscoe's goal was typical of a striker playing on the wing. Everyone expected a cross, but Roscoe saw a gap and the rest is history. Oh, and you don't score from 25 yards from a scuffed shot...
