I read this morning that the LEAD is MISSING from the roof of the Mill between Totnes and Dartington, funny that eh. How stupid are the rozers, there is a hand full of recycle places like the one in behind Barton Downs Football pitches that these pilchards would have gone too to ofload their haul and cash in, these premises have CCTV, if the old bill was clever enough they would have gone round and checked the footage at these places to see who nicked the lead and who`s handling the stolen goods, before some bright spark comes on and says well that doesn`t prove anything, it does because they can match the lead taken with traces of lead still present, not to mention the slate tyle marks that would match, finger prints and DNA from the builders that laid it there in the first place, discolouring due to aging, there are all sorts of ways of tracing the lead. Or is it just a co-incedence that these people are around?

And why not? The odds are that it wasn`t the travellers near Daves house that nicked it, just unfortunate timing that the lead went missing during their stay down here, was probably the other lot that live a bit further down the road from the Mill near the fish ponds!

I will make no secret of the fact I was very very angry this afternoon and steam could be seen coming out of my ears.
The plain facts are the travellers first moved onto Gampton Common and were very close to Nick Byes mums house, he had them off that site in only two days.
They then went to Clennon Valley and a court order was obtained within a few days, Bye waited one week for them to move on themselves and as they did not go he sent in the bailiffs and the police last Thursday.
As you may know by now they moved into what was the local play park where I live. Yesterday Bye decided not to get a court order to move them, WHY? instead he has told them they can stay until the 13th July.
As soon as the council left the site yesterday six more vans moved onto it and you can bet a few more will be moving on soon.
It will only be if they don't go on that date will a court order be sought, but that will take time and it may be the case they will be in the park for more than two weeks.
While the park has hedges and bushes on all four sides with just a gate on the main road, the back hedge backs right onto the gardens of the houses, these gardens are only about 20 foot long.
When the park was closed the gate was chained and padlocked, there is a footpath that goes between two houses that you were able to use to get into the park. That was also sealed off when the park was closed, but it was discovered last Friday that the fence put there have been broken down.
Tonight at around 7pm very loud banging has come from the camp, maybe as they have agreed not to come into the streets here, they have put that fence back up.
No matter what your views are I want you to just consider a few points. Carols best friends house backs right on to the park, with the extra vans now there Carol said the noise of the generators has got very loud and she said so was the music.
All those who have houses that back onto the park are at this time unable to use their back gardens to sit in due to the noise, I think you can imagine the noise 15 + generators make.
On each side of Carols friends house both houses have young children who's bedrooms are at the back of the house. Those children have had problems sleeping at night and now have had to have their beds moved for the time being into a room at the front.
This is the problems that are caused when travellers are allowed to set up next to peoples homes, It can not be fair or right that local tax payers have to put up with this, would you be happy if your garden was out of bounds because of the noise, or your children have to be moved from their own bedrooms.
Its fine for those who can only view the camp from a distance, its completely different for those who have it right next to their homes.

No it's not right and it's not fair on the householders; but if Torbay Council had fulfilled their statutory obligation and provided Official Travellers Sites, any itinerant or illegally camped people could be moved within the law a lot faster. This is 2009 Dave, and Torbay is once again living in the past, just as it is over the lack of proper transport infrastructure (Kingskerswell By Pass and proper road access to the area) failing to provide what other sizeable towns regard as even the minimum of sporting facilities ~ we could go on and on ~ and sitting on it's arse contemplating it's own navel and kidding itself such things can be put off until tomorrow just because the area has outstanding natural beauty. Here's a good idea.........................why not have the famous Torbay Dustcart Rally on the Travellers Camp and kill two birds with one stone? ;D

Whether the Council are hopeless in most of what they do (one would have to agree) doesn't get away from the point that what they are doing is surely against the law - we would have our collars felt by the local fuzz if we did what they are doing.
I say, send farmer Tully in with his dung spreading tractor and cover them in fertiliser - that'll move them!!
Chin up Dave.

When did Steve Tully become a farmer? By all means if he has a muck spreader then send him in, then he can do a drive-by past the Town Hall and spray a No More Traveller message across the place!

Must be a ''Toolfix'' special ray gun! Dave there's a remarkable resemblance to a young Harrison Ford in that picture mate! Just wondering if the Millenium falcon is parked in the garage behind you!
Go on mate, zap those travellers!! Just watch out for Jabba the Gypsy, he's a mean son of a gun!!

Well I'm not going to say to much now as I'm sure this will be in the HE very soon, but the Council Yard in Borough Rd has been broken into, the good news is they were caught on CTV and its known who done it, the same people have also been caught shoplifting at Sainsburys just up the road.
