When Timbo posted that supporters club yearbook recently I commented on the list of Torquay United players who had appeared in full internationals. The book lists eight up to the mid-1960s - and I think there was at least one more - since when I have counted another thirty-five (and I may have missed some). In the absence of too much Torquay United chat at present I'll reset my challenge for those players to be named. Remember they could have played in full-internationals before, during or after they played for Torquay United and they may have played for us on a permanent, trial or loan basis. By my reckoning we've had players who've appeared in full internationals for: Barbados England Grenada Iceland Jamaica Nigeria Northern Ireland Republic of Ireland St Vincent and the Grenadines Scotland United States of America Wales And, if that's not enough, you may like to add players who have played in U21 and U23 internationals for their various countries... ...and those Torquay United managers who were full international footballers?

I know he only played 4 games though. The same goes for Steve Bould who went on to make a couple of appearances for England. The Jamaican one would be Darren Moore I guess. Paul Trollope is another Wales International. Can we also count ex Aston Villa loanee Alan Lee as another Eire International?

Rather alarmingly, I can come up with a nicely-balanced team of Wales Under-21 internationals. I think it says quite a lot about the strength in depth of Welsh football. Rhys Wilmot Ryan Green Dudley Lewis Michael Brough Kyle Critchell Alex Lawless Anthony Pulis Jason Rees Daryl Pugh Andrew Martin Eifion Williams

Additionally, Leroy apparently played once for Sierra Leone in a 1994 African Cup of Nations qualifier against Guinea. The Butlers are interesting. Jack Butler would also count as a player from the early 1930s and Bill Butler played in that 1923 FA Cup final we discussed recently.

Also, one of the worst players I ever saw in a TUFC shirt was an Under 23 international for his country...thankfully it was not a long stay for him at Plainmoor.
I await Jon's answer within the next couple of minutes!

Rhys Wilmot Ryan Green Dudley Lewis Michael Brough Kyle Critchell Alex Lawless Anthony Pulis Jason Rees Daryl Pugh Andrew Martin Eifion Williams Wales have actually had a decent U21 team over the last two or three years after going through a long barren spell. I believe they went the best part of twenty games without a win at one stage. There must be a fair number of Welsh U21 internationals who never managed a single Football League appearance. Three full internationals in that team with four caps between them! I'd quite forgotten Andrew Martin who played in the McFarland season when we turned over lots of players including one billed as a South African U23 international. Michael Brough was a revelation - but not on Easter Monday I'm afraid - Nottingham-born and with Notts County at the time of his Wales career. Alex Lawless - capped at U21 level as a Torquay United player - has signed for York City.

In naming Jason Rees and Ryan Green in his Torquay United Wales U21 XI, Jon has added two more names to the list of full internationals with Torquay United associations.
By my reckoning that leaves 3 more English internationals, 2 Welsh, 1 Northern Irish (Alan McLoughlin played for Rep Ire), 2 Republic of Ireland, 1 Barbados (possibly open to dispute), 1 Jamaica (very obscure!).

Anton Greyling was the guy I was on about - the South Africa U23 international. Absolutely hopeless and thankfully moved on after a couple of appearances.

Didn't we also have an aussie forward on loan from a bigger club. Was he an fringe International? Paul Harries I think his name was.
