It may have been a disappointing result today but it is only half time and the Plainmoor play off four years ago showed how a similar deficit can be over come in 20 minutes or even Man City today just in injury time! (I saw our old friend Mackie got on the score sheet in that match) Come on then lets have some predictions on playing formations/tactics, will Lingy dare to experiment , Although the strategy didn't work today, it wasn't helped by losing both Rene and Danny but Lingy is going to have to get creative. He is not adverse to playing 3-4-3 when necessary and I suspect he will now start with two strikers with Jarvis and Atieno maybe reprising their Hereford second half cameo. I quite like the idea of Eunan on the right to give a bit of trickery, guile and superior delivery. Lathrope or even Morris could play the defensive midfield role behind Manse. Hopefully Danny will be back on the left. Ling has been putting two defenders on the bench but should be looking at putting another attacker there instead and maybe it is indeed time for the return of Macklin to at least give us some pace to utilise. Few expected us to even get in the play offs and even fewer now expect us to progress any further so there is nothing to lose and it is literally Death or Glory - could be a cracker!

Time for everyone in the squad to stand up and be counted. One last effort from everyone and who knows what could happen and there should be no pressure on us we are expected to go out after yesterdays showing and Chetenhams superiority. I thought we performed " as expected " on the whole passed it well enough with little effect and no cutting edge where it mattered most. Pretty sure that we all know whats missing at the moment and in truth has been all season looking back the odd wonder goal from Howe or Nico has got us out of jail on a number of occasions. Our normal build up play has been totally ineffective and toothless of late and we got punished for that yestereday. Manses and Okane's goals have also dried up another factor in our demise. For me this is the last chance saloon and I will be very disappointed if Lingy persists with formations and tactics that have failed miserably in the last couple of months. This is last throw of the dice will the "knackered eleven"start again or will we see a couple of fresh faces?

4 - 4 - 2 with Aiteno and Jarvis up front (Howe will not play any part according to the Lingmiester this morning on the excellent and informative Radio Devon). Morris (who has played well over the last couple of weeks), Laptop, Mans and Stevens if fit (McPhee to be on red alert) in the middle with O'Kane on the bench! Back 4 and 'keeper as Sunday New Torquay Captain, Mark Ellis states.... www1.skysports.com/football/news/11750/7755576/Semi-not-over-yet-say-captainsThanks for mentioning the Exeter play-off Cap!!!

Start with Atieno and Jarvis up front with a 4-4-2 but if not working by half time put Ellis upfront.
Cheltenham were struggling in the first half to cope with Rene but Jarvis and Atieno do not carry the same physically presence.

if we dont put in a full 90 minute shift, something we havent done for quite a while it will be all over for this season, personally dont see 3 goals in us at the moment and we are prone to conceding, but hopefully i am wrong though,we shall see

Sadly I cannot make tomorrow's match. There has not been any up-dates on the official site as to how many tickets have been sold in the Family Stand. It makes you wonder that the crowd won't be that great.
Let's face it the odds are stacked against us, I would say we only have about a 20% chance of progressing when you take in all the factors from the first leg score to our recent form. As I write I see Crewe look odds on to get to the final which again shows it is the form team who always do well in play-offs and normally the team who goes up. My only consolation is that when Torquay have been really up against it over the years, it is often the time when we really produce a performance to be proud of. Remember our second leg win against Wolves at Wolves in the 80's to clinch our first Wembley trip? That was truly amazing and we need something similiar tomorrow. It will be tough ask but one thing we have in abundance is team spirit and character. Good luck lads - please give us a performance to be proud of!

I see that Crewe have made it to Wembley after a 2-2 draw at Southend.....

Not enough cutting edge from Southend - but then they did start with Benyon so that's not exactly surprising

Well at least we have to start with 442 tonight...don't we? Wouldn't be surprised to see Howe start on a pair of crutches though! A mistake over the last six or so games playing a lone striker who wasn't even half way fit, and our results have shown it! Before the usual suspects start...no I am not a football league manager I am just expressing my opinion as a fan on a fans forum! Can we win tonight...of course we can. Will we win tonight...doubtfull!
