For heaven's sake, guys... are we REALLY bothered? - If one disenchanted body jumps overboard and starts preaching doom and gloom and name-calling elsewhere are we really going to get on our "high horses" and claim "FOUL REF!!"... there's plenty of it about all over local neighbouring rival football sites (and some of it a LOT less PC than what goes on in South Devon, even between *x*t*r and TUFC traditionally...)
Although I am aware that some youngsters read these pages (the same that attend matches, presumably), we should remember it's a "big boys' playground" and as long as it doesn't 1) get personal and 2) get indecent.... then let it roll off the proverbial ducks back!!

During the first half, I had the complete and utter misfortune of sitting next to our ‘hardcore’ fans. When I say ‘hardcore’ of course, I refer to the PATHETIC, SHAMEFUL, EMBARRASSING excuse for a group who are clearly mentally disturbed and harbour some twisted belief that their ‘songs’ are clever and entertaining. After a good deal of refelection, I would like to offer my slant on Jeremy's comments which drew a rather loaded response from Awayday in my opinion. It's all very well coming over as all moralistic and "concerned for one's kids" but haven't we seen this tactic before from Awayday's "travelling companion" when he was banging away trying to force the directors into getting rid of Colin Lee? Like Jeremy, I live away from the club and like Jeremy I am rather concerned that I may be "associated with these characters" by being anywhere near them in a ground. I often take stick for the fact that I regularly eschew the accomodation reserved for travelling fans and choose to sit/stand in another part of the stadium when we play away, but apart from the fact that I prefer to gain myself the best available viewing point I also don't want to be anywhere near these embarassements to the Torquay United cause. I just knew that when Awayday "appeared" on here he would work himself towards a position whereby he could stage manage a "Drama Queen" exit quoting the awfulness of having to justify himself in the company of more enquiring minds than he was used to elsewhere. Well done Jeremyb for bringing up the subject of these "Pultroons", as one poster on here loves to describe certain people; and I may well see you on the train to Stevenage next week ~ why not treat yourself to a seat in the Main Stand at Broadhall Way (it's the same price for a better view) and avoid the idiots amongst the generally laudible Yellow Army? At only 20 minutes of train travel and a combined thirty minutes of walking, next week's game is as near as it gets to home for me until Barnet away comes round and I have every intent of being there.

I'll bell you next week Merse and we'll arrange it. Mind you, I might be ostracised for 'guilt by association!' I didn't intend to stir up a hornets nest such as this and I must admit I struggle to be 'PC' in either my written or spoken word. As it happens, I consider myself to be reasonably open minded on most subjects, but if we all look deep within ourselves, I think there are natural 'prejudices' within us all. Gang mentality and 'sticking with your own' is, in my opinion, intrinsic in people and has been developed over hundreds of years. For me, what separates human beings is those that choose to look beyond their own circle and appreciate that what is beautiful to some, may not be so attractive to others. Returning to our friends in the stands, I will not hesitate to say something next time I consider their behaviour to be embarrassing to my club. As many have said, when they focus their attention on popular songs and chants that get the rest of the crowd (including me) involved, then I applaud them. Calling a respected former professional footballer a 'see you next Tuesday' is unlikely to impress anyone beyond their own spotty circle. There's a new prejudice to debate - 'acneism'

I want to apologise for refering to this site as The Funny Farm. On reflection it was a bloody stupid thing for me to do and I have since been back and edited my post back to TFF. I also offer my sincere apologies if I have offended anyone.

Your apologies are fully accepted and I hope you have accepted my apologies on behalf of the TFF for words that should not have been used to describe the group of fans at the centre of all of this. Your are always very welcome to come and share your views on here with us. Dave
